ECC Women's Basketball Report - Week 13

Player of the Week
Katie Wall, Mercy (Sr, G - Wappingers Falls, N.Y.)
Wall had a career-high and game-high 31 points on 12-of-22 shooting overall and 5-of-9 shooting from downtown in the Mavericks' win over first-place STAC on Wednesday. The senior added seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals as Mercy swept the season series with the Spartans for the first time since the 1975-76 season.

Defensive Player of the Week
Trinity Hudson, Molloy (Jr, G - Glen Cove, N.Y.)
Hudson was once again the centerpiece of the Molloy defense, collecting over 10 rebounds in both contests last week. The junior netted nine points, brought in 12 rebounds, swiped three steals, and denied three shots while holding Staten Island to 22 percent shooting Saturday afternoon. On the week, the guard averaged 12 points, 13.5 rebounds (nine defensively), 2.5 blocks, and 1.5 steals per game.

Rookie of the Week
Brianna Davis, Queens (Fr, G - Bronx, N.Y.)
Davis averaged 17.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks as the rookie recorded 35 points, 20 rebounds, and five blocks in the Knights' 1-1 week. Davis began the week notching her fourth double-double with a game-and-team high 19 points, and 10 rebounds with three blocks against CSI on Wednesday evening. The Bronx native concluded the week with a game-and-team-high 16 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks as she recorded the fifth double-double of her career in the victory over UDC Saturday afternoon.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Latavia Jackson, Dist. Columbia (Jr, G - Waldorf, Md.)
Jackson averaged 18.5 points (shooting at 51.9 percent from the field), 3.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists, and 1.0 steals per game in a 1-1 week for the Firebirds. In the win over Molloy, she had a game-high 25 points, five rebounds, an assist, and a steal.

Anna Jankovic, D'Youville (So, - Averill Park, N.Y.)
Jankovic finished with a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds in D'Youville's win over Roberts Wesleyan. She also added four steals on the afternoon. 

Brianne Moxley, D'Youville (Jr, - Penfied, N.Y.)
Moxldey finished with 19 points, six rebounds, four assists, and zero turnovers in the Saints' 79-70 win over Roberts Wesleyan. 

Alahna Paige, Daemen (Jr, G - Rochester, N.Y.)
Daemen University junior guard Alahna Paige shot 50 percent from the field (4-of-8) and knocked down 2-of-5 from beyond the arc along with two free throws to finish with a game-high 12 points in Daemen's 65-33 win over Roberts Wesleyan. She tallied four defensive rebounds, two assists, and a steal. Paige has notched double-digit points in 11 games this season and in four of the last five.

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: Daemen won their fifth straight game and moved to 15-4 overall and 10-3 in ECC play on the season with a 65-33 win over Roberts Wesleyan on Wednesday evening. In the win, the Wildcats set a school record for giving up the fewest points in a game in the NCAA Division II era (2015-present). Daemen will host St. Thomas Aquinas and Mercy this weekend.

District of Columbia: The Firebirds split the week 1-1, defeating Molloy at home, and then falling to Queens College by one point not the road. They will host the College of Staten Island next Saturday at 3:00 p.m.

D'Youville: No team notes submitted.

Mercy: The Mercy College women's basketball team went 1-0 on the week with a win over STAC. The Mavericks were led by senior Katie Wall who scored a career-high and game-high 31 points in the win. Mercy resumes action on Friday when they play at D'Youville at 6 p.m.

Molloy: Molloy went 1-1 on the week, falling to UDC, 74-68, Wednesday, February 8 and defeating Staten Island, 44-39, Saturday, February 11. The Lions now sit at 5-18 overall and 4-10 in league play. The cardinal and white will have an 11-day break before returning to the court against Mercy Wednesday, February 22.

Queens: The Knights went 1-1 on the week falling to Staten Island Wednesday evening before Raven Pitt hook shot stunned UDC in the 48-47 buzzer beater Saturday afternoon. Queens opens a three-game road stand beginning with non-conference action against Wilmington on Wednesday before traveling to Rochester against Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday in ECC action.

Roberts Wesleyan: Roberts lost to both Daemen and D'Youville last week. The Redhawks host Queens on Saturday.

Staten Island: The Dolphins defeated Queens on Wednesday to move one step closer to clinching a playoff spot, but they closed a 1-1 week with a loss at Molloy on Saturday. The Dolphins remain in control of their playoff fate with two conference games remaining.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Basketball team (17-6, 9-3 ECC) dropped their lone contest of the week, 65-53 at Mercy. STAC will next be in action on February 17 at Daemen (5:30 p.m.) and February 19 at D'Youville (1:00 p.m.).
