ECC Women's Basketball Report - Week Two

Player of the Week
Latavia Jackson, Dist. Columbia (Jr, G - Waldorf, Md.)
Jackson had her best week as a Firebird, averaging 28.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game. She registered her first double-double of the season against Georgian Court, posting a career-high 33 points while grabbing 10 rebounds, two steals, and a block. She also shot at 51.2 percent from the field on the week (22-for-43).

Defensive Player of the Week
Karolina Jaruseviciute, St. Thomas Aquinas (Jr, F - Jackson, N.J.)
Jaruseviciute led the Spartans on the defensive end of the floor, compiling 12 rebounds, four steals, and four blocked shots over two games last week. The junior forward posted three rebounds and three steals against Dominican, before recording nine rebounds, one steal, and four blocked shots against Post.

Rookie of the Week
Grace Galgano, Roberts Wesleyan (Fr, F - Brewster, N.Y.)
Galgano helped the Redhawks to their first win of the season over Mansfield with an 18-point performance. She shot 58.3 percent (7-for-12) and added four rebounds, two assists, and a blocked shot. 


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Sarah Ericson, St. Thomas Aquinas (So, G - Norwich, Conn.)
Ericson averaged 15.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists in two contests last week. The sophomore guard recorded 10 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 assists at Dominican, before posting a 20-point effort at Post, with 5 rebounds and 3 assists.

Georgia Haverlock, Roberts Wesleyan (Jr, G - Ithaca, N.Y.)
Haverlock helped the Redhawks to their first win of the season with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and two steals against Mansfield. She shot 50 percent from the floor (5-for-10) and sank 10 of 12 free throw attempts.

Trinity Hudson, Molloy (Jr, G - Glen Cove, N.Y.)
Hudson collected her first double-double of the season against Dominican. The junior scored a game-high 22 points and grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds against the Chargers. On the week, Hudson averaged 13.5 points, 10 rebounds, and two steals per game.

Kaytlyn Matz, Daemen (Jr, G - Johnsburg, Ill.)
Daemen University junior guard Kaytlyn Matz led all Wildcat shooters in their 69-66 non-conference victory over Le Moyne on Wednesday. Matz shot 57 percent from the field, finishing 4-of-7, and 80 percent from beyond the arc, banking 3-of-4 three's for a season-high 15 points. She pulled down three rebounds and added an assist and a steal in the Wildcats' first win over Le Moyne since 2013.

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: The Daemen University women's basketball team won their midweek match against Le Moyne 69-66, marking the first time the Wildcats beat the Dolphins since 2013. Daemen's Sunday game against Saint Michael's was postponed due to the massive amount of snow in Buffalo over the weekend. The Wildcats return to the court on Sunday, Nov. 27, traveling to take on Bloomsburg at 2 p.m.

District of Columbia: UDC went 0-2 on the week to bring their overall record to 2-2. They fell to Holy Family and Georgian Court in away match ups. Next up they will face off against Bowie State University on Wednesday evening.

D'Youville: No team notes submitted.

Mercy: The Mercy College women's basketball team went 1-1 on the week with a loss to Caldwell and a win over Wilmington on Saturday. The Mavericks were led by graduate student Taysha Bender who averaged a team-high 13.0 points per game. Mercy resumes action on Tuesday when they play at Bridgeport at 5 p.m.

Molloy: Molloy went 0-2 on the week, falling to Caldwell, 60-44, Saturday, November 19, and Dominican, 70-64, Sunday, November 20. The Lions now sit at 0-4 on the campaign, they will host Alliance Saturday, November 26 in its home-opener.

Queens: The Knights went 0-1 on the week as they fell in a heartbreak loss to Post. Queens will hit the road for three contests as they battle Bloomfield (Tuesday) before facing Alliance and Felician after the Thanksgiving break.

Roberts Wesleyan: The Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball team picked up a win at Mansfield last week, defeating the Mounties, 75-68. The Redhawks game on Saturday at Mercyhurst was postponed due to poor weather and travel conditions. Roberts will be back in the Voller Athletic Center on Tuesday at 6 p.m. when the team hosts Lake Erie.

Staten Island: After coming from behind to take a fourth quarter lead behind 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists, from Jenalyse Alarcon, the Dolphins could not hold on in the closing minutes and lost to Bloomfield on Wednesday. On Saturday, CSI once again fell just short of picking up their first win against East Stroudsburg. Noemia Massignue finished with 15 points to help lead a late Dolphins comeback bid in the defeat.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Basketball team (3-1) went 1-1 last week, beating Dominican 78-75, before falling to Post 54-49. STAC will next be in action on November 22 (5:30 p.m.) vs. Caldwell and November 27 (2:00 p.m.) vs. Chestnut Hill.
