ECC Women's Basketball Championship Tiebreakers

For purposes of seeding the conference championship, a tie will be broken in the following manner:

a. If there is a tie in the standings, the results of the in-season round robin play shall be used to break the tie.

b. If the tied teams split their in-season games, the results against the highest-seeded remaining teams in descending order shall be used to break the tie.

c. If three or more teams are tied for a place in the standings, the overall record of the tied teams against each other shall be used as the tiebreaker.

1. If (c) is utilized to break a tie between three or more teams, the tiebreaking procedure should start again from (a) on down if teams still remain tied after a separation of the original tie occurs.

d. If after a, b, and c are tried, there is still a tie, the tie shall be broken using the tied teams' overall conference road record.

e. If after a, b, c, and d are tried, there is still a tie, the road results against the highest-seeded remaining teams, in descending order, shall break the tie.

f. If after a, b, c, d, and e are tired, there is still a tie, the tie shall be broken using the NCAA Performance Indicator (formula below) with the results of the tied teams' full schedule, including non-conference games. Overall winning percentage, not conference winning percentage, will be used in the formula.

g. If the above procedures fail to break the tie, a coin toss by the ECC Commissioner will determine seeding of the conference championship.
