Men's Tennis Puts a Wrap on 2023 Season with 5-2 Win Over Daemen University

RINDGE, N.H. (4/16/23) – The Franklin Pierce men's tennis program capped off their 2023 campaign with a 5-2 triumph over East Regional opponent Daemen University on Sunday afternoon at the Jaffrey High School Tennis Courts.

After going winless through the first 10 matches of the spring season, the Ravens completed the campaign with two consecutive victories, finishing with a 5-11 (1-5 NE10) overall record. Daemen, with the loss, drops to 5-16 (0-5 ECC) overall.

Franklin Pierce took the early lead in the match, earning the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles positions. Pierce's Preston Gordon (Essex Junction, Vt.) and Joshua Arnold (Scarborough, Trinidad & Tobago) teamed up for a 6-2 victory at the first court, while Joe Herin (Tias, Spain) and Orlando Guerrero (Pachuco, Mexico) cruised to a 6-1 win to confirm the point for the Ravens.

The doubles point then paired nicely with four-of-six wins in singles play, beginning with a victory from Joe Herin over opponent Alex Lumanog at the No. 1 position (6-4, 6-2). To follow, Pierce also lassoed wins from Preston Gordon at No. 2 (6-2, 6-2), Alejandro Ortiz (Madrid, Spain) at No. 3 (6-1, 7-6, 6-0) and Paul McLellan (Nairobi, Kenya) at No. 6 singles (6-1, 6-0) to complete the winning effort. Rohan Chitanand and Zachary LaPlante would win the only two points for the Wildcats.
