ECC Women's Basketball Report - Week Three

Player of the Week
Sarah Ericson, St. Thomas Aquinas (So, G - Norwich, Conn.)
Ericson averaged 17.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 3.0 steals per game in two contests last week. The sophomore guard recorded 17 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals against Caldwell, before posting an 18-point, eight-rebound, three-assist, and four-steal effort versus Chestnut Hill.

Defensive Player of the Week
Angelique Holguin, St. Thomas Aquinas (Jr, F - Perth Amboy, N.J.)
Holguin led the Spartans on the defensive end of the floor, compiling 20 rebounds, three steals, and five blocked shots over two games last week. The junior forward posted 10 rebounds and two steals and four blocks against Caldwell, before recording ten rebounds, one steal, and one blocked shot against Chestnut Hill. She also recorded 12 and 11-points games against her opponents.

Rookie of the Week
Cecilia Lapertosa, Queens (Fr, F - Whitesboro, N.Y.)
Lapertosa continues to shine in her rookie campaign as she posted two double-doubles in the Knights' 2-1 week. The rookie began the week posting career-highs of 18 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists in a 74-60 victory over Bloomfield. She ended the week with a team-high 17 points, 10 rebounds, and career-high five steals in the 68-54 over Alliance. She ended the week averaging 14.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 2.3 steals per game.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Natalie Angeletti, Daemen (Jr, F - Panama, N.Y.)
Angeletti pulled down a season-high seven rebounds, four defensive and three offensive boards, and led the team in assists with five in Daemen's 66-45 victory over Bloomsburg on Sunday. She scored a career-high 17 points, shooting 67 percent on the day, finishing 8-of-12 from the field.

Latavia Jackson, Dist. Columbia (Jr, G - )
Jackson led the Firebirds to a 1-1 week by registering 18.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. In the Firebirds' win over Bloomfield, she posted a game-high 24 points, grabbed a team-high nine rebounds, and also added four assists.

Alahna Paige, Daemen (Jr, G - Rochester, N.Y.)
Paige led a balanced Wildcat offense to a 66-45 win over Bloomsburg on Sunday afternoon. Paige scored a season-high 17 points, shooting 70 percent (7-of-10) from the field and 67 percent (2-of-3) from beyond the arc, and tallied three defensive rebounds, an assist, and a steal.

Katie Wall, Mercy (Sr, G - Wappingers Falls, N.Y.)
Wall averaged a team-high 18.0 points per game on 50.0 percent shooting from the floor and 72.7 percent shooting from downtown. The senior also averaged 4.0 steals, 3.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game as Mercy went 1-1 on the week. The guard opened the week with a game-high 25 points on 9-of-15 shooting overall and 7-of-9 shooting from downtown with three assists, three steals and four rebounds in the win over Bridgeport on Tuesday. Wall ended the week with 11 points, four assists and five steals at Assumption on Sunday.

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: The Daemen University women's basketball team won their midweek match against Le Moyne 69-66, marking the first time the Wildcats beat the Dolphins since 2013. Daemen's Sunday game against Saint Michael's was postponed due to the massive amount of snow in Buffalo over the weekend. The Wildcats return to the court on Sunday, Nov. 27, traveling to take on Bloomsburg at 2 p.m.

District of Columbia: UDC split the week going 1-1, with a loss at Bowie State during the week and then a win over Bloomfield at home on Saturday. This upcoming week they will open up conference play hosting STAC on Wednesday and then heading to N.Y on the weekend to match up against Mercy.

D'Youville: No team notes submitted.

Mercy: The Mercy College women's basketball team went 1-1 on the week with a win over Bridgeport and a loss to Assumption. The Mavericks were led by senior Katie Wall who averaged a team-high 18.0 points per game. Mercy resumes action on Wednesday, November 30th when they play at Staten Island at 5:30 p.m.

Molloy: Molloy went 1-1 this week, defeating Alliance University, 53-46, Saturday, November 26, and falling to Felician, 62-43, Sunday, November 27. Molloy is now 1-5 on the campaign and will begin conference play Friday, December 2 against Daemen.

Queens: Queens went 2-1 on the week as freshman Cecilia Lapertosa tallied two double-doubles in the victories. The Knights open ECC play in Buffalo as they match up against D'Youville (Dec. 2) on Friday and conclude the upstate trip against Daemen on Sunday (Dec. 4)

Roberts Wesleyan: Roberts Wesleyan dropped a home game to Lake Erie last Tuesday, 85-66. The Redhawks are now 1-3 and will travel to Mercyhurst on Tuesday, Nov. 29 for a 5:30 p.m. tip.

Staten Island: The Dolphins went 2-0 this week including a huge win over Wilmington on Tuesday and a four-point victory over Pace on Sunday. Ashley Lambert scored 20 in the win over the Wildcats early in the week and Elizabeth Lofaro scored a career-high 17 against Pace on Sunday.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Basketball team (5-1) went 2-0 last week, beating Caldwell 69-57 and Chestnut Hill 72-68 (OT). STAC will next be in action on November 30 (5:30 p.m.) at UDC and December 3 (1:00 p.m.) vs. Staten Island.
