ECC Women's Basketball Report - Week 10

Co-Player of the Week
Jenalyse Alarcon, Staten Island (So, F - Troy, N.Y.)
Alarcon came up huge for the Dolphins in their win over Roberts Wesleyan on Sunday finishing with a 25-point, 11-rebound double-double. She shot an efficient 7-for-12 from the floor and connected on her lone three-point attempt in 36 minutes. She also had a steal and a pair of blocks as the Dolphins inserted themselves back into the playoff picture with their third conference victory.

Co-Player of the Week
Latavia Jackson, Dist. Columbia (Jr, G - Waldorf, Md.)
Jackson led the Firebirds to a 1-1 week in conference play by averaging 26.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 3.0 steals per game. In the game against Roberts Wesleyan, she posted a game-high 29 points, and in the win against Daemen (the Firebirds' first win over the Wildcats since the 2016-17 season), she had a game-high 23 points, while grabbing eight rebounds, five assists, five steals, and a block.

Defensive Player of the Week
Erin Leary, St. Thomas Aquinas (So, F - Carle Place, N.Y.)
Leary led the Spartans on the defensive end of the floor, compiling 31 rebounds, three steals, and three blocked shots over three games last week. The sophomore forward posted 13 rebounds, two steals, and one block against Pace, then picked up 14 rebounds at Queens, before recording four rebounds, one steal, and two blocked shots against Molloy. She also recorded 22, 20 and nine-point games against her opponents.

Rookie of the Week
Paris Anthony, Roberts Wesleyan (Fr, G - Rochester, N.Y.)
Anthony averaged 14.0 points on 70.6 percent shooting (12-for-17) and also added 3.0 rebounds per game. She began the week with 10 points and four rebounds in a win over UDC before tallying 18 points in a loss to Staten Island.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Georgia Haverlock, Roberts Wesleyan (Jr, G - Ithaca, N.Y.)
Haverlock averaged a double-double of 13.5 points and 10.0 rebounds in a 1-1 week. She had 12 points and eight rebounds in a win over UDC before adding 15 points and 12 rebounds against Staten Island.

Stella Mollica, D'Youville (So, - Shillington, Pa.)
Mollica led the Saints to a win over Daemen with an 18 points, six rebound, two assist, two steal performance. She shot 50 percent, draining 6-of-12 shots in D'Youville's first-ever win over their crosstown foe in 19 chances.

Destiny Ryles, Dist. Columbia (So, G -)
Ryles packed the stat sheet in a 1-1 week, averaging 13.5 PPG, 7.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 3.0 steals per game. In the game against Roberts Wesleyan, she posted 11 points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals. In the win over Daemen, she had 16 points, a game-high nine rebounds, five assists, and three steals.

Katie Wall, Mercy (Sr, G - Wappingers Falls, N.Y.)
Wall averaged a team-high 14.5 points per game with 6.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.0 steals per game as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The senior opened the week with 14 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and two steals in the win at Molloy on Wednesday. The guard ended the week with a game-high 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting with five rebounds, three assists, and two steals in the win over Queens on Saturday.

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: Daemen women's basketball lost both matchups last week, falling 51-60 to D'Youville on Tuesday and 47-68 to District of Columbia on Saturday. The Wildcats finish the first half of ECC play with a 5-3 record in conference. Daemen returns to the court this weekend with road games at Molloy on Friday and Queens on Sunday.

District of Columbia: UDC went 1-1 on the week, falling to Roberts Wesleyan on the road at the top of the week and then defeating Daemen at home on the weekend. The Firebirds improved to 5-3 in conference to wrap up the first round of conference play. They kick off the second round with a road trip to STAC next Wednesday.

D'Youville: No team notes submitted.

Mercy: The Mercy College women's basketball team went 2-0 on the week with wins over Molloy and Queens. The Mavericks were led by senior Katie Wall who averaged 14.5 points per game. Mercy resumes action on Wednesday when they host Staten Island at 5 p.m.

Molloy: Molloy went 0-2 on the week, falling to Mercy, 52-46, Wednesday, January 18 and STAC, 59-43, Saturday, January 21. Molloy now sits at 3-15 overall and 2-7 in conference play. The Lions will host Daemen Friday (Jan 27.) and D'Youville (Jan. 29).

Queens: Women's Basketball went 0-2 on the week as they fell in two close to STAC and Mercy. Brianna Davis recorded 11.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 3.0 steals as the rookie notched 22 points, 17 rebounds, and six steals on the week. The Knights open the week with non-conference play against AIC on the road before concluding the week at home against D'Youville on Friday before concluding the week against Daemen on Sunday.

Roberts Wesleyan: Roberts Wesleyan (3-13, 2-7 ECC) got its third win of the season last week with a 82-66 victory over UDC. The Redhawks lost to CSI, 59-56. Roberts will be off until Feb. 1 when the team hosts STAC.

Staten Island: The Dolphins were in action just once this week as they picked up a huge conference win against Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday. Jenalyse Alarcon helped will the Dolphins to the win in the game's final quarter with her best effort of the season. She finished with a 25-point, 11-rebound double-double.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Basketball team (14-5, 6-2 ECC) went 3-0 last week, beating Pace (69-54), Queens (60-50), and Molloy (59-43). STAC will next be in action on January 25 (5:30 p.m.) vs. UDC and January 28 (3:00 p.m.) vs. Staten Island.
