ECC Women's Basketball Report - Week 12

Player of the Week
Destiny Ryles, Dist. Columbia (So, G - Windsor Mill, Md.)
Ryles led the Firebirds to a 1-1 week, averaging 25.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals, and 2.5 assists per game. In the win over D'Youville, she had a game-high 22 points with three rebounds, three assists, and two steals. In the game against Daemen, she led all scorers with 28 points and added six rebounds, five steals, and two assists. This also marked her 20th double-digit scoring game of the season.

Defensive Player of the Week
Trinity Hudson, Molloy (Jr, G - Glen Cove, N.Y.)
Hudson was a catalyst in Molloy's win over Queens. The junior collected a double-double scoring 17 points and bringing down 13 rebounds (11 defensively), a season-high five blocks, and one steal while shooting 53 percent from the floor.

Rookie of the Week
Claire Pikett, Daemen (Fr, F - Holland, N.Y.)
Daemen University freshman forward Claire Pikett put together the highest-scoring weekend of her young career, totaling 28 points (14 ppg) while shooting 83.0 percent from the field (10-of-12) and 75.0 percent (3-of-4) from beyond the arc en route to Daemen's weekend sweep over Staten Island and District of Columbia. Pikett scored a career-high 15 points against the Dolphins on Friday night in a game in which she missed just one shot. She pulled down 12 rebounds for the Wildcats, while adding three assists, two steals, and two blocks.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Jenalyse Alarcon, Staten Island (So, F - Troy, N.Y.)
Alarcon averaged 12.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.0 blocks, and 2.0 steals per game in two contests this past week. Most notably, she registered a 15-point, 10-rebound double-double on Sunday against D'Youville. In that game, Alarcon delivered the game-winning basket followed by a game-clinching block on the game's final possession.

Angelina Barrera, Mercy (Fr, F - Gloucester City, N.J.)
Barrera had a career-high 17 points on 5-of-10 shooting with seven rebounds in 27 minutes of action in Mercy's first-ever win at Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday.

Brianna Davis, Queens (Fr, G - Bronx, N.Y.)
In their lone game of the week, Davis tallied 17 points with nine rebounds, three assists, and three steals against Molloy as she fell short of her fourth double-double of the season.

Angelique Holguin, St. Thomas Aquinas (Jr, F - Perth Amboy, N.J.)
Holguin recorded 16 points, six rebounds and two assists in STAC's road victory at Roberts Wesleyan. The junior forward shot 70 percent from the field (7-for-10).

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: No team notes submitted.

District of Columbia: UDC went 1-1 on the week defeating D'Youville on Friday and then falling to Daemen on Sunday. Next up, they will host Molloy at home on Wednesday.

D'Youville: No team notes submitted.

Mercy: No team notes submitted.

Molloy: Molloy snapped a nine-game skid, defeating Queens, 54-52, Saturday, February 4. The Lions now sit at 4-17 overall and 3-9 in league play. The cardinal and white will travel to play UDC Wednesday, February 8 before returning home to host Staten Island Saturday, February 11.

Queens: The Knights fell in a tough two-point loss to Molloy on Saturday afternoon in their lone game of the week. Freshman Brianna Davis led the Knights with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Queens continues ECC play as they travel to CSI on Wednesday (Feb. 8) evening before hosting UDC on Saturday (Feb. 11) afternoon.

Roberts Wesleyan: Roberts fell to STAC, 78-44 and Mercy, 76-68 last week to drop to 3-15 on the season. The Redhawks will host Daemen on Wednesday and travel to D'Youville on Saturday.

Staten Island: The Dolphins went 1-1 in two games on the road this past weekend starting with a loss to Daemen on Friday. In the second game of the two-game trip on Sunday, the Dolphins took the win over D'Youville on a game-winning basket by Jenalyse Alarcon in the closing seconds.
