ECC Women's Basketball Report - Week 11

Player & Defensive Player of the Week
Erin Leary, St. Thomas Aquinas (So, F - Carle Place, N.Y.)
Leary averaged 17.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks in two contests last week. The sophomore forward recorded 25 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, and two blocks against UDC, before posting a 10-point, seven-rebound, two-assist, three-steal, one-block effort at Staten Island.

Rookie of the Week
Brianna Davis, Queens (Fr, G - Bronx, N.Y.)
Davis averaged 13.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.3 blocks as the rookie tallied 41 points, 18 rebounds, six steals, and four blocks on the week. In the OT victory over D'Youville, Davis matched a career-high 16 points and added 11 rebounds, a career-high five steals, and three blocks. Davis concluded the week notching a career-high 22 points on 52.6 percent shooting against Daemen on Sunday afternoon.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Angelina Barrera, Mercy (Fr, F - Gloucester City, N.J.)
Barrera averaged a team-high 12.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game on 73.3 percent shooting as Mercy went 1-1 on the week. The freshman opened the week with a game-high and career-high 14 points and 11 rebounds on 7-of-8 shooting with two blocks. The forward ended the week with 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting with two rebounds and one block.

Mickayla Ivy, Daemen (Sr, F - Grand Rapids, Mich.)
Daemen fifth-year forward Mickayla Ivy led all Daemen players defensively over the weekend, averaging 5.0 rebounds, 2.5 blocks, 2.0 assists, and added 10.0 points per game in the Wildcats' pair of 19+ point wins over Molloy and Queens.

Alahna Paige, Daemen (Jr, G - Rochester, N.Y.)
Daemen junior guard Alahna Paige put together her best weekend of the season, averaging 14.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game while leading the Wildcats to a pair of 19+ point victories over Molloy and Queens. Paige was Daemen's leading scorer in both matchups and shot 53 percent (8-of-15) from the field, knocked down a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw stripe, and led all Wildcat shooters at 50 percent (6-of-12) from beyond the arc.

Destiny Ryles, Dist. Columbia (So, G - Windsor Mill, Md.)
Ryles averaged 19.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 3.5 steals per game to lead the Firebirds to a 1-1 week. In the Firebirds' win over Mercy, she packed the stat sheet, hitting a career-high 32 points, eight assists, six steals, and five rebounds.

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: No team notes submitted.

District of Columbia: The Firebirds split a pair of conference matchups falling to STAC on the road during the week, and then defeating Mercy at home on the weekend. UDC improved to 6-4 in league play on the season. Next Up, UDC heads upstate to N.Y. for a two-game back-to-back road trip next weekend, kicking off with a match-up against D'Youville on Friday.

D'Youville: No team notes submitted.

Mercy: The Mercy College women's basketball team went 1-1 on the week with a win over Staten Island and a loss to UDC. The Mavericks were led by freshman Angelina Barrera who averaged a team-high 12.5 points per game. Mercy resumes action on Saturday when they play at Roberts Wesleyan at 2 p.m.

Molloy: Molloy went 0-2 on the week, falling to Daemen, 69-40, Friday, January 27 and D'Youville, 56-40, Sunday, January 29. Molloy now sits at 3-17 overall and 2-9 in conference play. The Lions will wrap up its home stand Saturday, February 4 against Queens.

Queens: Queens went 1-2 on the week as they fell to AIC and Daemen but earned an OT victory D'Youville. Rookie Brianna Davis led the Knights averaging 13.7 points including notching a career-high 22 points against Daemen. The Knights lone game of the week comes on the road as they face off against Molloy Saturday afternoon.

Roberts Wesleyan: Roberts Wesleyan did not play last week

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Basketball team (16-5, 8-2 ECC) went 2-0 last week, beating UDC (62-53) and Staten Island (70-46). STAC will next be in action on February 1 at Roberts Wesleyan (5:30 p.m.)
