ECC Women's Soccer Report - Week 10

Offensive Player of the Week
Alyssa Diaz, Daemen (So, F - Rochester, N.Y.)
Diaz scored five of Daemen's 10 goals in a 2-0-0 week. She totaled two goals and an assist in an ECC Tournament berth clinching 4-1 win over Staten Island and recorded her first career hat trick in just 41 minutes of action during a 6-0 win over Lincoln. Diaz has totaled a team-high seven goals and 16 points. All of her goals and points have come over the last seven games while leading Daemen to a 5-1-1 record.

Defensive Player of the Week
Julia Eichel, Daemen (Sr, B - Grand Island, N.Y.)
Eichel played 141 of a possible 180 minutes and headed up a defense that limited Staten Island and Lincoln to a total of five shotes on goal in a 2-0-0 week.

Rookie of the Week
Kylie Miranto, Daemen (Fr, M/F - North Tonawanda N.Y.)
Miranto contributed two goals and an assist in a 2-0-0 week. She scored Daemen's third goal and assisted on the fourth goal in an ECC Tournament berth-clinching win over Staten Island.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Sara Messemer, Queens (Jr, F - Whitestone, N.Y.)
Messemer delivered on Senior Day with the game-tying goal in the Knights' 1-1 draw against Staten Island Saturday evening.

Hanna Dino, D'Youville (Fr, F/M - Niagara Falls, Ontario)
Dino was able to put the Saints on the board against St. Thomas Aquinas when she scored her first collegiate goal of the season off a penalty kick.

Sarai Rodriguez, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fr, F - Newburgh, N.Y.)
Rodriguez recorded both goals in STAC's 2-0 victory at Salem University. Rodriguez closes out her first season in maroon and gold, leading the team in goals (7) and points (16).

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: The Wildcats (5-9-2, 5-3-0) went 2-0-0 last week and in the process secured a bid to the four team ECC Championship tournament. Daemen will face top-seeded Mercy in the semifinals Wednesday. Daemen will be making its second straight and third overall appearance in the ECC playoffs. The Wildcats enter the postseason riding a conference-best four game winning streak and having gone 5-1-1 over their final seven games. Daemen has outscored its opponents 17-1 during the four game winning streak. Sophomore Alyssa Diaz (Rochester, N.Y.) has totaled a team-high seven goals and 16 points, all of which have come over the past seven games. She recorded her first career hat trick in a 6-0 win over Lincoln Saturday. Freshman Kylie Miranto (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) has scored in each of the last four games and ranks second on the team in goals (5) and points (11).

D'Youville: No team notes submitted.

Lincoln: The Lions ended the season with a 1-13 (0-7 ECC) record after losses to Bloomfield and Daemen last week. 

Mercy: The No. 20 Mercy College women's soccer team went 0-0-1 on the week with a 0-0 draw against Roberts Wesleyan. The Mavericks were led by freshman Kamy Anaya who made two saves. Mercy resumes action on Wednesday, November 2nd when they host Daemen in an ECC Semifinal at 2:30 p.m.

Molloy: Molloy went 0-1 last week, falling to Holy Family, 1-0, to close out the regular season. The Lions return to the field as the second seed in the ECC Championship Wednesday, November 2 in a semifinal matchup against third-seeded Roberts Wesleyan.

Queens: The Knights earned a 1-1 draw against CSI to conclude their 2022 season at home.

Roberts Wesleyan: The Roberts women's soccer team tied No. 20 Mercy 0-0 on Saturday. The Redhawks are the No. 3 seed in the ECC Championships and will head to Molloy for the semifinal game.

Staten Island: Needing two wins to secure a playoff spot, the Dolphins lost to Daemen on Wednesday by a final score of 4-1. The loss eliminated CSI from playoff contention ahead of their regular season finale on Saturday against Queens. The Dolphins received the benefit of a Knights own goal to open the scoring in that match, but they did not score the rest of the way and were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw.

St. Thomas Aquinas: St. Thomas Aquinas (5-10-3, 3-4-1 ECC) went 2-0-0 on the week, beating Salem (WVa.) 2-0 and D'Youville 2-1 to close out its 2022 schedule.
