ECC Women's Soccer Report - Week Five

Offensive Player of the Week
Ancksu Dixon, Mercy (Fr, F - Freeport, N.Y.)
Dixon had a team-high five points on two goals and one assist as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The freshman opened the week with an assist on the game-winning goal against Queens on Wednesday. The forward ended the week with a game-high-tying two goals in the win at Molloy on Saturday.

Defensive Player of the Week
Kamy Anaya, Mercy (Fr, GK - Long Beach, Calif.)
Anaya went 2-0 in goal with 10 saves, a .909 save percentage, and a 0.50 goals-against average with one shutout. The freshman made two saves in the Mavericks' 2-0 shutout win over Queens on Wednesday. The goalkeeper ended the week with a career-high eight saves and just one goal allowed in the win over Molloy on Saturday.

Rookie of the Week
Larissa Johnston, Roberts Wesleyan (Fr, M - Rochester, N.Y.)
Johnston scored two goals for four points on the week. She scored one goal in both games last week, wins over D'Youville and Queens.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Mikaela Barriga, Molloy (Fr, M - Glen Oaks, N.Y.)
Barriga totaled three goals on the week on six total shots. The freshman netted her first career hat trick against Lincoln.

Jasmine Blue, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fr, F - Sterling Heights, Mich.)
Blue scored the game-winning goal in STAC's 2-1 victory over Staten Island last week. Blue corralled a free kick in a scrum of players from teammate Chloe Fletcher and danced around several defenders, blasting a shot to the top right corner of the net to give the visitors in maroon and gold the lead.

Jessica Hoyt, Mercy (Gr, M - Kings Park, N.Y.)
Hoyt scored a career-high two goals in the Mavericks' 5-1 win at Molloy on Saturday.

Nicolette Knauf, Roberts Wesleyan (Jr, GK - Schenectady, N.Y.)
Knauf collected six saves in two shutout victories last week. She made four stops in a 3-0 win over D'Youville and two more in a 2-0 win over Queens.

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: The Wildcats (0-7-1, 0-2-0) played just one game last week and suffered a 4-0 loss at regionally ranked Cedarville. Five of Daemen's first eight opponents are currently regionally ranked by the United Soccer Coaches. Daemen plays at regionally-ranked Mercyhurst Wednesday, before traveling to St. Thomas Aquinas for a league match Saturday.

D'Youville: No team notes submitted.

Lincoln: Lincoln fell to 0-6 with a loss to Molloy last week. The Lions game against D'Youville on Saturday was ruled a no contest after the game was halted due to an injury. Lincoln will be back in action on Saturday, October 1 when they visit Mercy. 

Mercy: The No. 21 Mercy College women's soccer team went 2-0 on the week with wins over Queens and Molloy. The Mavericks were led by freshman Ancksu Dixon who had a team-high five points on the week. Mercy resumes action on Saturday when they play at Lincoln at 12 p.m.

Molloy: Molloy went 1-1 on the week. The Lions defeated Lincoln, 14-0, and fell to No. 21 ranked Mercy, 5-1.

Queens: The Knights went 0-2 on the week falling in conference action. Queens will use the week to rest and prepare for ECC play against Molloy on Saturday evening.

Roberts Wesleyan: The Roberts Wesleyan women's soccer team continued its unbeaten streak with a pair of shutout wins last week. The Redhawks got wins against D'Youville and Queens. Roberts has only conceded four goals this season. Roberts will host Mansfield on Monday.

Staten Island: No team notes submitted.

St. Thomas Aquinas: St. Thomas Aquinas (2-6, 1-2 ECC) went 1-1 on the week, falling to Chestnut Hill, 3-0, before beating Staten Island 2-1. STAC travels to Bloomfield on September 27 (7:00 p.m.) and then hosts Daemen on October 1 (12:00 p.m.).
