ECC Women's Soccer Report - Week Eight

Offensive Player of the Week
Ancksu Dixon, Mercy (Fr, F - Freeport, N.Y.)
Dixon had a team-high three goals and seven points as Mercy went 1-1 on the week. The freshman scored a goal at Bentley on Monday before ending the week with two goals and an assist in the win over Staten Island on Saturday.

Defensive Player of the Week
Sarah Tappeto, Molloy (Jr, B - Merrick, N.Y.)
Tappeto contributed to both goals in Molloy's 2-1 victory over Roberts Wesleyan. She assisted on the first goal on a corner kick and sent a cross into the box on the game-winning assist on the Lions' go-ahead goal. With two assists on the afternoon, Tappeto increases her country-leading assist total to 17.

Rookie of the Week
Kylie Miranto, Daemen (Fr, M/F - North Tonawanda, N.Y.)
Miranto scored her first two collegiate goals to lead Daemen to a 3-0 win over D'Youville in its lone game of the week.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Kayla Camacho, Mercy (Jr, F - Valley Stream, N.Y.)
Camacho had a game-high-tying five points on two goals and an assist in the win over Staten Island on Saturday.

Gabrielle Ciambella, Roberts Wesleyan (Jr, M - East Amherst, N.Y.)
Ciambella tallied a goal and an assist for three points on the week. She scored a goal in a 3-0 win over Salem before following with an assist on the Redhawks' only goal against Molloy. 

Sarai Rodriguez, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fr, F - Newburgh, N.Y.)
Rodriguez tallied two goals in STAC's 5-0 shutout victory over Lincoln University. Rodriguez registered four shots, with two going on goal and to the back of the net.

Alessandra Santoriello, St. Thomas Aquinas (Sr, GK - Nutley, N.J.)
Santoriello went 1-1 on the week, giving up only one goal on nine shots faced over two games. Santoriello made five saves against Lincoln to share a clean sheet with teammate Colleen Stevens.

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: Daemen (2-9-2, 2-3-0 ECC) played just one game last week and recorded its second ECC win of the year following a 3-0 win over D'Youville on Wednesday. The Wildcats will once again play just one game this week, as they travel to rival Roberts Wesleyan for a league match Saturday. Freshman Kylie Miranto (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) scored her first two collegiate goals during the win over D'Youville, while fellow rookie Becca Schultz ( Grand Island, N.Y.) recorded her first career shutout.

D'Youville: No team notes submitted.

Lincoln: The Lions moved to 1-9 (0-4 ECC) on the year. They picked up their first win of the season in a 14-0 rout of Trinity. The Lions then fell to St. Thomas Aquinas. This week, Lincoln continues ECC play with home games against Mercy on Wednesday and Staten Island on Saturday. 

Mercy: The No. 15 Mercy College women's soccer team went 1-1 on the week with a loss at Bentley and a win at Staten Island. The Mavericks were led by freshman Ancksu Dixon who had three goals and an assist. Mercy resumes action on Wednesday when they play at Lincoln at 3 p.m.

Molloy: The Lions traveled to Rochester and defeated Roberts Wesleyan, 2-1, Saturday, October 15. In the victory, junior Sarah Tappeto tallied two assists to bring her season total to 17, which leads the country. Molloy now sits at 10-3-2 overall and 6-1 in ECC play. Molloy will travel to western New York Saturday (Oct. 22) to conclude its conference season against D'Youville.

Queens: The Knights went 0-1-1 on the week as they battled back in the second half of both games. Queens hit the road for the first in the month of October in a crucial ECC match-up against STAC Saturday afternoon.

Roberts Wesleyan: The Roberts women's soccer team is now 11-2 following a 3-0 win over Salem and a 2-1 loss to Molloy last week. The Redhawks host Daemen on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Staten Island: The Dolphins played just a single game this week at home against Mercy and could not slow down the Mavericks' attack in a 6-0 defeat. The Dolphins remained in striking distance through halftime, but Mercy broke the game wide open in the second half to hand the Dolphins a shutout loss. Next on the schedule for CSI is a home match against Georgian Court on Wednesday followed by a meeting with the University of the District of Columbia on the road this Saturday.

St. Thomas Aquinas: St. Thomas Aquinas (3-9-2, 2-4 ECC) went 1-1-0 on the week, falling to Wilmington (Del.) 3-0, before beating Lincoln (Pa.) 5-0. STAC visits Shippensburg on October 17 (3:00 p.m.) and then hosts Queens on October 22 (2:00 p.m.).
