ECC Women's Soccer Report - Week Six

Offensive Player of the Week
Lindsey McCarthy, Molloy (Jr, B - Smithtown, N.Y.)
McCarthy netted three goals on the week on three shots. The junior tallied a goal against Georgian Court and netted a pair of goals in Molloy's 6-1 win over Queens.

Defensive Player of the Week
Colleen Stevens, St. Thomas Aquinas (Sr, GK - Ellenville, N.Y.)
Stevens made 13 saves and posted a .929 save percentage over two matches last week. She began the week with a four-save shutout in a tie with Bloomfield. She then tallied nine saves to keep the Spartans in the game in a tight 1-0 loss to Daemen. 


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Julia Eichel, Daemen (Sr, B - Grand Island, N.Y.)
Played all 180 minutes and headed up a defense that limited its two opponents to just seven shots on goal and one goal during a 1-1-0 week. Helped Daemen limit St. Thomas Aquinas to just two shots on goal in a 1-0 victory.

Sarah Tappeto, Molloy (Jr, B - Merrick, N.Y.)
Tappeto was the centerpiece of the Lions' offense this week, totaling six points. The junior handed out an assist against Georgian Court and picked up three assists and netted her first goal of the season against Queens. On the week, the Merrick native tallied four assists and one goal in a 1-0-1 week.

Sara Villacres, Staten Island (So, GK - Richmond Hill, N.Y.)
Villacres made 17 saves and posted a .850 save percentage last week. She made 12 stops in a loss to Goldey-Beacom, before adding five more in a shutout win over D'Youville.

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: Daemen (1-8-1, 1-2-0 ECC) played two games last week. The Wildcats suffered a 1-0 loss at regionally-ranked Mercyhurst and posted a 1-0 win at St. Thomas Aquinas. Senior Tatyjana Scalisi (Williamsville, N.Y.) scored the game-winner against STAC. Senior Tori DeLappi (Medina, Ohio) has started all nine games in goal (1.83 GAA) and made two saves against STAC en route to her second shutout of the year. Daemen will hit the road once again this week, as the Wildcats travel to Worcester, Mass. Tuesday for a non-conference game against Assumption and cap the week with an ECC match at regionally-ranked Molloy Saturday. These two games will mark the end of a stretch of seven-straight road games.

D'Youville: No team notes submitted.

Lincoln: The Lions scheduled contest against Mercy last week was postponed. Lincoln will be back in action on Thursday with a non-conference matchup at home vs. Chestnut Hill before hitting the road to continue conference play against Queens on Saturday. 

Mercy: The No. 17 Mercy College women's soccer team was idle this week. Mercy resumes action on Wednesday when they host Le Moyne at 3 p.m.

Molloy: The Lions went 1-0-1 on the week, drawing Georgian Court, 2-2, and defeating Queens, 6-1. Molloy now sits at 8-2-2 overall and 4-1 in ECC play. Molloy will travel to play Jefferson Wednesday (Oct. 5) and return to ECC play Daemen at home Saturday (Oct. 8).

Queens: The Knights fell in their lone match of the week to Molloy as sophomore Kristina Gambino notched her first goal of the season. Queens will host Lincoln University (Pa.) Saturday afternoon in conference play.

Roberts Wesleyan: The Roberts women's soccer had its unbeaten streak come to an end last Monday with a loss to Mansfield. The 8-1 Redhawks will be on the road against Chestnut Hill this Tuesday before returning home for a Saturday game against CSI.

Staten Island: No team notes submitted.

St. Thomas Aquinas: St. Thomas Aquinas (2-7-1, 1-3 ECC) went 1-1 on the week, tying at Bloomfield, 0-0, before losing to Daemen 1-0. STAC hosts Felician on October 5 (2:00 p.m.) and then visits Mercy on October 8 (2:30 p.m.).
