ECC Women's Soccer Report - Week Nine

Offensive Player of the Week
Brooke Amato, Daemen (Jr, F - Grand Island, N.Y.)
Amato scored two goals to lead Daemen to a 4-0 upset of regionally-ranked Roberts Wesleyan in Daemen's lone game last week.

Defensive Player of the Week
Julia Eichel, Daemen (Sr, B - Grand Island, N.Y.)
Eichel headed up a backline that limited Roberts Wesleyan to just two shots on goal to help the Wildcats upset the regionally-ranked Redhawks 4-0 in Daemen's lone game last week.

Rookie of the Week
Mikaela Barriga, Molloy (Fr, M - Glen Oaks, N.Y.)
Barriga totaled two goals in Molloy's, 2-1, victory over D'Youville. The freshman totaled four shots, including three on goal, while scoring the game-winning goal.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Nikki Bermudez, Mercy (Gr, M - Oceanside, N.Y.)
Bermudez had a game-high seven points on a game-high three goals with one assist in the win over Lincoln on Wednesday.

Jacquelyn D'Amico, Staten Island (Gr, M - Staten Island, N.Y.)
D’Amico scored three times this week including an impressive diving header against Georgian Court on Wednesday and two more goals against Lincoln on Saturday.  Of her seven shots attempted this week, five were on goal and three found the back of the net.  Her three goals helped the Dolphins to an unbeaten week at 1-0-1 and made her the team’s leading goal-scorer on the season.

Ancksu Dixon, Mercy (Fr, F - Freeport, N.Y.)
Dixon had a game-high four assists in the Mavericks' win over Lincoln on Wednesday.

Sarai Rodriguez, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fr, F - Newburgh, N.Y.)
Rodriguez picked up goals in each of STAC's two games last week, giving her a team-leading five on the year.

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: Daemen is 3-1-1 over its last five games and rolled to a 4-0 win over regionally-ranked Roberts Wesleyan this past Saturday in its only game last week. The Wildcats close out the regular season with two ECC games this week, as they travel to the College of Staten Island Wednesday and host Lincoln Saturday. Freshman Kylie Miranto (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) was named the ECC Rookie of the Week last week after scoring her first two collegiate goals during a 3-0 win over D'Youville. Miranto scored again in the win over Roberts, while junior Brooke Amato (Grand Island, N.Y.) netted two goals against the rival Redhawks. Senior Tori DeLappi (Medina, Ohio) has started 11 of the team's 14 games in goal. She ranks third among the ECC leaders in total saves (55) and fourth in save percentage (.764).

D'Youville: No team notes submitted.

Lincoln: The Lions fell to 1-11 (0-6 ECC) with losses to Mercy and Staten Island last week. Lincoln wraps up their season with matches at home against Shaw on Thursday and on the road at Daemen on Saturday.

Mercy: The No. 19 Mercy College women's soccer team went 1-0 on the week with a win over Lincoln on Wednesday. The Mavericks were led by graduate student Nikki Bermudez who had a game-high three goals with an assist. Mercy resumes action on Saturday when they host Roberts Wesleyan at 11 a.m.

Molloy: Molloy went 1-0 on the week, defeating D'Youville, 2-1, Saturday October 22. The Lions were led by freshman Mikaela Barriga who netted both goals in the victory. Molloy wraps up the regular season with a road match against Holy Family Thursday, October 27.

Queens: The Knights earned a 1-1 tie against STAC in conference play. Queens concludes the regular season this week beginning with a road trip to New Haven Wednesday (Oct. 26) evening before the season comes to a close on Senior Knight against CSI Saturday (Oct. 29) evening.

Roberts Wesleyan: The Roberts women's soccer team fell to Daemen on Saturday, 4-0. The Redhawks travel to Mercy to close out the regular season.

Staten Island: The Dolphins opened this week’s slate on Wednesday at home against Georgian Court.  Only two goals were scored in the 1-1 tie, both within minutes of one another.  On Saturday, the Dolphins traveled to Lincoln University for a meeting with the Lions.  CSI scored a season-high four goals in the 4-1 victory including two more by Jacquelyn D’Amico, who also scored the lone goal in Wednesday’s match.  Coming up this week, the Dolphins host Daemen University on Wednesday and wrap up their season against Queens on Saturday.

St. Thomas Aquinas: St. Thomas Aquinas (3-10-3, 2-4-1 ECC) went 0-1-1 on the week, falling to Shippensburg 2-1, before drawing with Queens, 1-1. STAC closes out its 2022 regular season schedule, visiting Salem (WVa.) on October 26 (2:00 p.m.), then hosting D'Youville on October 29 (11:00 a.m.).
