ECC Women's Lacrosse Report - Week 11

Offensive Player of the Week
Jaclyn Grzelaczyk, Mercy (Gr, A - Seaford, N.Y.)
Grzelaczyk had a team-high 10 points on six goals and four assists as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The graduate student had a game-high seven points on four goals and three assists in the win over Jefferson on Wednesday and had two goals and an assist in the win over Daemen on Saturday.

Defensive Player of the Week
Lindsey Shimborske, Mercy (So, D - Farmingdale, N.Y.)
Shimborske had a team-high 10 ground balls and 16 draw controls with four caused turnovers helping lead a Mercy defense that allowed just 13 goals in two wins. The sophomore had six ground balls, eight draw controls and two caused turnovers in the win over Jefferson on Wednesday. Shimborske ended the week with four ground balls, eight draw controls and two caused turnovers in the win over Daemen on Saturday.

Rookie of the Week
Andrea Mott, Mercy (Fr, A - Miller Place, N.Y.)
Mott had two goals and a team-high six assists as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The freshman had a goal and four assists in the win over Jefferson on Wednesday and ended the week with a goal and two assists in the win over Daemen on Saturday.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Katelyn Cerrato, St. Thomas Aquinas (So, M - Mohegan Lake, N.Y.)
Cerrato recorded five points, with four goals and a helper in STAC's win over UDC. She also picked up three ground balls, won three draw controls and caused a turnover in the match.

Alexis Grant, Roberts Wesleyan (Sr, A - Brewerton, N.Y.)
Grant had five goals and one assist for six points in Roberts' 10-5 win over D'Youville. She also caused two turnovers on the afternoon. 

Leah Hansen, Mercy (So, A - Greenlawn, N.Y.)
Hansen had a team-high seven goals with two assists as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The sophomore opened the week with four goals and an assist in the win over Jefferson on Wednesday and had three goals and an assist in the win over Daemen on Saturday.

Madelyn Robinson, Roberts Wesleyan (Jr, D - Lancaster, N.Y)
Robinson had three ground balls and six caused turnovers in Roberts Wesleyan's 10-5 win over D'Youville.

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: Daemen (7-9, 2-4 ECC) closed out its inaugural season following a loss at nationally-ranked Mercy this past Saturday. Graduate student Casey Decatur (Apollo Beach, Fla.) scored three goals in the loss to Mercy and closed out the year with 37 goals, a team-high 37 assists and a team-high 74 points. She is tied for the league lead in assists and ranks second in points. Junior Dana Bacher (Hamburg, N.Y.) closed out the year with 52 points and a team-high 43 goals. Sophomore Camryn Day (Hamburg, N.Y.) entered the game against Mecry with a league-high 98 draw controls. She recorded three draw controls Saturday and finished the year with a league-high 101 draw controls. Freshman Blair Pfohl (Lockport, N.Y.) played every minute in goal for Daemen this year and finished the year with 118 saves and a team-high 39 ground balls.

D'Youville: No team notes submitted.

Mercy: The No. 20 Mercy College women's lacrosse team went 2-0 on the week with wins over Jefferson and Daemen. The Mavericks were led by graduate student Jaclyn Grzelaczyk who had a team-high 10 points. Mercy resumes action on Thursday when they host D'Youville in an ECC Semifinal at 12 p.m.

Molloy: No team notes submitted.

Roberts Wesleyan: Roberts finished the regular season with an 11-5 (5-1 ECC) overall record. The Redhawks defeated D'Youville in the final game 10-5. Roberts earned the No. 2 seed in the ECC Championships and will host No. 3 Molloy on Thursday at 6 p.m.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Lacrosse team (2-12, 1-5 ECC) closed its 2023 season with a 16-5 victory over UDC last week.
