ECC Women's Lacrosse Report - Week Six

Offensive Player of the Week
Casey Decatur, Daemen (Sr, F - Apollo Beach, Fla.)
Decatur posted a pair of eight-point games during a 2-0 week. She totaled four goals and four assists in an 18-7 win over Edinboro and three goals and five assists in a 17-2 win over Tiffin. She also contributed four caused turnovers and two ground balls during the week.

Defensive Player of the Week
Lindsey Shimborske, Mercy (So, D - Farmingdale, N.Y.)
Shimborske had a game-high five caused turnovers with four ground balls and two draw controls as Mercy earned an 11-8 win over Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday.

Rookie of the Week
Dana Bacher, Daemen (Jr, F - Hamburg, N.Y.)
Bacher scored a team-high 12 goals during a 2-0 week. She netted a season-high seven goals in an 18-7 win over Edinboro and capped the week with five goals and two assists in a 17-2 win over Tiffin. She has now totaled five or more goals four times this season. Bacher also contributed three ground balls and five draw controls during the week.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Sydney Gordon, D'Youville (So, A - Hamburg, N.Y.)
Gordon came up big for the Saints in their win against Gannon University as she concluded with five goals and an assist giving her six points in a 14-12 win. She also added two draw controls and one ground ball on the afternoon.

Christina Lopreato, Mercy (Jr, M - Mahopac, N.Y.)
Lopreato had three ground balls and four caused turnovers in Mercy's 11-8 win over Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday.

Annie Mulhall, Roberts Wesleyan (So, A - Webster, N.Y.)
Mullhall scored 12 goals over two games last week for the Redhawks. She began the week with four goals in a loss to Mercy before adding eight more in a win over St. Thomas Aquinas. She also contributed five ground balls and two caused turnovers. 

Megan Rugolo, Molloy (So, M - Oceanside, N.Y.)
Rugolo had another lights out week for the Lions, scoring a blazing 13 points in two games. The sophomore tallied seven points on five goals and two assists while adding four draw controls in the victory over Jefferson before adding six points on two goals and four assists with two ground balls and two caused turnovers against UDC.

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: Daemen (5-5, 0-0 ECC) closed out the non-league portion of its inaugural season with wins over Edinboro (18-7) and Tiffin (17-2) last week. The Wildcats have won four of their last six games and have outscored their opponents 82-52 over that stretch. Graduate student Casey Decatur (Apollo Beach, Fla.) leads the ECC in assists (24) and ranks second in points (47). Junior Dana Bacher (Hamburg, N.Y.) has scored five or more goals four times this season and ranks second in the ECC in total goals (29). Freshman Ella Bouley (Auburn, N.Y.) has scored a goal in a team-best eight-straight games. Sophomore Camryn Day (Hamburg, N.Y.) totaled 14 draw controls in the win over Edinboro which ranks as the fifth most in a game by a Division II player this season. She has totaled a league-high 65 draw controls on the year. The Wildcats will play their first ever ECC game Friday when they travel to UDC.

Dist. Columbia: UDC fell to Molloy on the road and will host Daemen University on Friday (31st) for the first time ever.

D'Youville: No team notes submitted.

Mercy: The No. 12 Mercy College women's lacrosse team went 1-0 on the week with an 11-8 win over Roberts Wesleyan. Mercy was led by graduate student Kaitlyn Grzelaczyk who had a team-high three goals. Mercy resumes action on Wednesday when they play at Bentley at 3 p.m.

Molloy: Molloy tied a program-record seven consecutive wins this week, topping both Jefferson, 19-16, and UDC, 20-1. Molloy will be on the road on Wednesday at Franklin Pierce before welcoming Mercy College to Rockville Centre on Sunday.

Roberts Wesleyan: Roberts went 1-1 in back-to-back games this weekend. The Redhawks lost to Mercy, 11-8 but defeated STAC, 19-3. Roberts will be back in action again on April 8th at home against UDC.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Lacrosse team (1-9, 0-2 ECC) went 0-2 on the week, dropping contests to Post (17-8) and Roberts Wesleyan (19-3). STAC returns to action against D'Youville on April 1 (11 a.m.).
