ECC Women's Lacrosse Report - Week One

Offensive Player of the Week
Annie Mulhall, Roberts Wesleyan (So, A - Webster, N.Y.)
In the Redhawks' 13-7 season-opening win over Georgian Court, Mulhall scored six points on four goals and two assists. She added one groundball on the afternoon.

Defensive Player of the Week
Lindsey Shimborske, Mercy (So, D - Farmingdale, N.Y.)
Shimborske had a game-high and career-high six caused turnovers with four draw controls and a goal in Mercy's win over Franklin Pierce on Saturday.

Rookie of the Week
Madison Buck, D'Youville (Fr, A - Rochester, N.Y.)
Buck began her collegiate career with a five-point outing on two goals and three assists as the Saints fell to Georgian Court, 18-12. 


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Madison Handley, D'Youville (Fr, M - Lancaster, N.Y.)
Handley scored four goals and added six draw controls in a loss to Georgian Court. 

Leena Moussa, Mercy (So, A - Wantagh, N.Y.)
Moussa had a game-high four goals and five points to go along with two ground balls and two draw controls in Mercy's win over Franklin Pierce on Saturday.

Emma Rippon, Mercy (Gr, A - Putnam Valley, N.Y.)
Rippon had three goals with a game-high seven draw controls to go along with one ground ball and one caused turnover in Mercy's win over Franklin Pierce on Saturday.

Emma Taylor, Roberts Wesleyan (Fr, D - Spencerport, N.Y.)
Taylor helped lead the Redhawks to a win over Georgian Court by scooping up four ground balls and collecting three draw controls.

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: Daemen will play its inaugural season this spring. The Wildcats will play their first-ever game Sunday at Lake Erie College.

Dist. Columbia: No team notes submitted.

D'Youville: No team notes submitted.

Mercy: The No. 11 Mercy College women's lacrosse team went 1-0 on the week with a win over Franklin Pierce. The Mavericks were led by graduate student Emma Rippon and sophomore Leena Moussa who combined for seven goals. Mercy resumes action on Saturday when they host Le Moyne at 12 p.m.

Molloy: Molloy will start the season on Wednesday (Feb. 22) against Pace at 7:00 p.m.

Roberts Wesleyan: Roberts opened the season with a 13-7 win over Georgian Court on Friday. The Redhawks will play two games in North Carolina this week with a Monday matchup against Mount Olive and a Wednesday game against Lenoir-Rhyne. Roberts will be home on Friday against Gannon.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Lacrosse team (0-1) suffered a 17-0 defeat at the hands of Wilmington (Del.) last week. STAC returns to action on February 25 (12:00 p.m.) against Bridgeport.
