ECC Women's Lacrosse Report - Week Four

Offensive Player of the Week
Hailey Galison, St. Thomas Aquinas (Jr, D - Wantagh, N.Y.)
Galison recorded eight goals and six assists for 14 points over two games last week, including a seven goal, six assist outburst at Caldwell to give the Spartans their first win of the season. She also scooped up four ground balls, caused three turnovers, and won 14 draw controls.

Defensive Player of the Week
Brinn Stworzydlak, D'Youville (So, GK - Hamburg, N.Y.)
Stworzydlak went 1-1 between the pipes last week but made 35 saves to post a 74.5 save percentage. She began the week with 23 saves in an 11-4 loss to Slippery Rock, before adding 12 more saves in a 15-1 win over Felician. She also recorded 10 ground balls on the week, 

Rookie of the Week
Dana Bacher, Daemen (Jr, F - Hamburg, N.Y.)
Bacher totaled five goals and six points in a 1-1 week. She netted all five of her goals in a 14-13 win over Gannon. It marked the second five-goal game of the year for Bacher. She also recorded four ground balls, six draw controls, and two caused turnovers over two games.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Alexa Amorison, Molloy (So, A - Huntington, N.Y.)
Amorison led Molloy offensively with 12 points on the week, recording seven goals and five assists. She tallied a career-high five goals and eight points against Georgian Court.

Alexis Grant, Roberts Wesleyan (Sr, A - Brewerton, N.Y.)
Grant scored 10 goals and added one assist for 11 points on the week. She tallied at least three goals in each game as the Redhawks went 2-1 last week. Grant also recorded 

Megan Rugolo, Molloy (So, M - Oceanside, N.Y.)
Rugolo had a 10 point week for the Lions, tallying five points in both of the Lions' contests on the week. She dished out four assists while netting one goal against Davis and Elkins before scoring four times and adding one assist against Georgian Court. In addition, she picked up four ground balls, forced two turnovers, and added eight draw controls.

Lindsey Shimborske, Mercy (So, D - Farmingdale, N.Y.)
Shimborske had a game-high three caused turnovers with an assist, two ground balls, and a game-high seven draw controls in Mercy's 15-9 win over Bloomsburg on Wednesday.

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: Daemen (2-3, 0-0 ECC) suffered a 19-2 loss at nationally-ranked Le Moyne and posted a thrilling 14-13 win over Gannon last week. The Wildcats were scheduled to host Tiffin last Friday, but the game was postponed. The win over Gannon marked the first home win in program history. Sophomore Camryn Day (Hamburg, N.Y.) scored the game-winner against Gannon off a free position shot with just 2.1 seconds left in regulation. Day recorded 10 draw controls in the win over Gannon, her second double-digit draw control effort of the year. Graduate student Casey Decatur (Apollo Beach, Fla.) totaled three goals and four assists against Gannon and has registered a team-high 19 points (9 gls, 10 asts) so far. Junior Dana Bacher (Hamburg, N.Y.) posted her second five-goal effort of the year in the win over Gannon. She has netted a team-high 11 goals on the year. Daemen plays three road games this week at Alfred (3/15), Findlay (3/17) and Ashland (3/19).

Dist. Columbia: The Firebirds fell to Chestnut Hill during the week, and will head to NJ next week to face off against Caldwell.

D'Youville: No team notes submitted.

Mercy: The No. 13/14 Mercy College women's lacrosse team went 1-0 on the week with a 15-9 win over RV Bloomsburg on Wednesday. The Mavericks were led by sophomore Leena Moussa who had three goals. Mercy resumes action on Thursday, March 16th when they play at Florida Southern at 7 p.m.

Molloy: No team notes submitted.

Roberts Wesleyan: Roberts (4-4) won over Gannon, 18-4 but fell to No. 9 Adelphi, 15-6. The Redhawks will travel to Franklin Pierce on Friday.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Lacrosse team (1-5) went 1-1 on the week, first falling at Dominican 20-3, before winning at Caldwell, 18-7. STAC next visits Assumption on March 15 (5:30 p.m.) and then hosts Molloy on March 18 (2:30 p.m.).
