ECC Women's Lacrosse Report - Week Seven

Offensive Player of the Week
Megan Rugolo, Molloy (So, M - Oceanside, N.Y.)
Rugolo had another 13-point week for the Lions, combining for nine goals and four assists in a 2-0 week for Molloy. The sophomore netted five goals on six shots at Franklin Pierce before scoring four goals and adding three ground balls and a caused turnover in the overtime victory over No. 13 Mercy.

Defensive Player of the Week
Brinn Stworzydlak, D'Youville (So, GK - Hamburg, N.Y.)
Stworzydlak was stellar between the pipes for the Saints in their game against the Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas College. Stworzydlak gathered 11 saves off of 16 shots she faced during the contest which resulted in a 69.0 save percentage that helped push D'Youville to another conference victory.

Rookie of the Week
Kylie Miranto, Daemen (Fr, M - North Tonawanda, N.Y.)
Miranto recorded her first career hat trick and also assisted on three goals in a win over District of Columbia. She also contributed three ground balls and one caused turnover.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Casey Decatur, Daemen (Sr, F - Apollo Beach, Fla.)
Totaled a team-high nine points (3 G, 6 A) in a win over District of Columbia.

Sydney Gordon, D'Youville (So, A - Hamburg, N.Y.)
Gordon had quite an outing against St. Thomas Aquinas College, finishing with six points that came off of five goals and an assist. 

Jaclyn Grzelaczyk, Mercy (Gr, A - Seaford, N.Y.)
Grzelaczyk had a team-high 13 points on a team-high seven goals and six assists with three ground balls in a 1-1 week for Mercy. The graduate student opened the week with a season-high 10 points on six goals and four assists in the Mavericks win at No. 12 Bentley on Wednesday. Grzelaczyk ended the week with a goal, two assists and three ground balls at Molloy on Sunday.

Lindsey Shimborske, Mercy (So, D - Farmingdale, N.Y.)
Shimborske had a team-high seven caused turnovers with six ground balls and seven draw controls in a 1-1 week for Mercy. The sophomore opened the week with seven draw controls and one ground ball in the win at No. 12 Bentley on Wednesday. Shimborske ended the week with five ground balls and a game-high seven caused turnovers at Molloy on Sunday.

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: Daemen (6-5, 1-0) ran its winning streak to three-straight games following a 23-7 win at District of Columbia in its lone game last week. It marked Daemen's first ever East Coast Conference game. Graduate student Casey Decatur (Apollo Beach, Fla.) totaled nine points in the win over UDC. She leads the ECC in assists (30) and ranks second in points (56). Sophomore Camryn Day (Hamburg, N.Y.) has totaled a league-high 72 draw controls. Daemen plays just one game this week, as they play host to Molloy on Saturday.

Dist. Columbia: UDC fell to Daemen University in their first-ever match up. They will head to Rochester next Saturday to face off against Roberts Wesleyan.

D'Youville: No team notes submitted.

Mercy: The No. 13/18 Mercy College women's lacrosse team went 1-1 on the week with a win over No. 12 Bentley and a loss to Molloy. The Mavericks were led by graduate student Jaclyn Grzelaczyk who had a team-high 13 points. Mercy resumes action on Saturday when they host STAC at 12 p.m.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Lacrosse team (1-10, 0-3 ECC) went 0-1 on the week, dropping their lone contest at D'Youville, 15-5. STAC returns to action at Mercy on April 8.
