ECC Women's Lacrosse Report - Week 10

Offensive Player of the Week
Andrea Mott, Mercy (Fr, A - Miller Place, N.Y.)
Mott had a team-high 12 points on five goals and seven assists with one ground ball and one caused turnover as Mercy went 2-0. The freshman opened the week with seven points on four goals and three assists in the win at Georgian Court on Tuesday. Mott ended the week with a goal and four assists in the win over D'Youville on Saturday.

Defensive Player of the Week
Madelyn Robinson, Roberts Wesleyan (Jr, D - Lancaster, N.Y)
Robinson helped the Redhawks defense allow just 13 goals over two conference victories last week. She had seven ground balls and eight caused turnovers on the week. In a huge win over Molloy, she scooped up five ground balls and caused turnovers five turnovers. 

Rookie of the Week
Kadie Tierney, Roberts Wesleyan (Fr, M - Marcellus, N.Y.)
Tierney scored seven goals on the week to help the Redhawks to a pair of wins. She found the back of the cage four times against Daemen while also tallying four ground balls and three caused turnovers. She then added three goals in a huge ECC win over Molloy. 


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Sophia Podszebka, Roberts Wesleyan (Jr, M - Churchville, N.Y.)
Podszebka had six points (5 G, 1 A) and 11 draw controls over two Roberts Wesleyan wins last week, 

Emma Rippon, Mercy (Gr, A - Putnam Valley, N.Y.)
Rippon had eight goals, two ground balls, 16 draw controls and two caused turnovers as Mercy went 2-0. The graduate student had three goals and a season-high 14 draw controls in the win over Georgian Court on Tuesday. Rippon ended the week with a game-high five goals with two caused turnovers in the win over D'Youville on Saturday.

Megan Rugolo, Molloy (So, M - Oceanside, N.Y.)
Rugolo led Molloy with six points on the week, scoring five goals and adding one assist in the triple-overtime loss at Roberts Wesleyan. In the fourth quarter, Rugolo scored the Lions' final three goals to keep them in front of the Redhawks. She also added three draw controls and one caused turnover.

Lindsey Shimborske, Mercy (So, D - Farmingdale, N.Y.)
Shimborske had three ground balls, 13 draw controls and two caused turnovers in helping lead a Mercy defense that allowed just 14 goals in two games. The sophomore had seven draw controls in the win at Georgian Court on Tuesday. Shimborske ended the week with six draw controls, three ground balls and two caused turnovers in the win at D'Youville on Saturday.

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: The Wildcats (7-8, 2-3 ECC) played just one game last week and suffered a loss to Roberts Wesleyan. Daemen closes out its inaugural season Saturday at Mercy. Graduate student Casey Decatur (Apollo Beach, Fla.) has totaled a team-high 71 points (34 gas, 37 asts). She leads the ECC in assists (37) and ranks second in points and ninth in goals. She is one of five players in the league to rank among the the top-10 in goals, assists and points. Junior Dana Bacher (Hamburg, N.Y.) ranks fourth among the ECC leaders in goals (43), while sophomore Camryn Day (Hamburg, N.Y.) ranks first in draw controls (98).

Dist. Columbia: No team notes submitted. 

D'Youville: No team notes submitted.

Mercy: The No. 19 Mercy College women's lacrosse team went 2-0 on the week with wins over Georgian Court and D'Youville. Mercy was led by freshman Andrea Mott who had a team-high 12 points. Mercy resumes action on Wednesday when they play at Jefferson at 3 p.m.

Molloy: No team notes submitted.

Roberts Wesleyan: Roberts went 2-0 last week which ended in a thrilling 13-12 triple overtime win over Molloy to give the Lions their first conference loss of the season. Earlier in the week the Redhawks took down Daemen, 14-1 on the road. Roberts will host D'Youville on Saturday for the final game of the regular season.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Lacrosse team (1-12, 0-5 ECC) had last week off from competition. STAC next visits UDC on April 29 (2:00 p.m.).
