ECC Women's Lacrosse Report - Week Nine

Offensive Player of the Week
Joanna Mauceri, Molloy (Sr, M - New Hyde Park, N.Y.)
Mauceri matched a career-high five points in Molloy's win over D'Youville to keep the Lions unbeaten in ECC play. The senior netted four goals, including going 3-for-3 on free position, and added one assist, four ground balls, three draw controls, and one caused turnover.

Defensive Player of the Week
Madelyn Robinson, Roberts Wesleyan (Jr, D - Lancaster, N.Y)
Robinson helped the Redhawks defense allow just three goals in an 18-3 win over Post. On the afternoon, she scooped up four ground balls and caused three turnovers. Robinson also scored a goal in the victory. 

Rookie of the Week
Camryn Day, Daemen (So, F - Hamburg, N.Y.)
Day totaled six goals, nine points, and 15 draw controls in a 1-1 week. She contributed two goals and two assists in a 13-10 loss to D'Youville. Then Day equaled her season high for goals (4), posted a season-high for points (5), and collected 10 draw controls in a 16-8 win over St. Thomas Aquinas. The ECC leader in draw controls (97), it marked the fifth time this season she has recorded 10 or more draw controls in a game. She also posted three caused turnovers during the week.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Casey Decatur, Daemen (Sr, F - Apollo Beach, Fla.)
Totaled seven goals and 10 points during a 1-1 week. Contributed a season-high five goals and added three assists in a 16-8 win at St. Thomas Aquinas. Also recorded three ground balls during the week.

Alexis Grant, Roberts Wesleyan (Sr, A - Brewerton, N.Y.)
Grant scored five goals in the Redhawks' 18-3 victory over Post.  

Andrea Mott, Mercy (Fr, A - Miller Place, N.Y.)
Mott had a team-high-tying eight points on four goals and four assists with three ground balls and two caused turnovers as Mercy went 1-1 on the week. The freshman had a goal and an assist at New Haven on Tuesday. Mott ended the week with three goals, three assists, three ground balls and two caused turnovers in the win over UDC on Saturday.

Sam Newlin, D'Youville (Fr, M - Austin, Texas)
Newlin was a force to be reckoned as she concluded her week with 11 goals and an assist for 12 points over three games. Newlin shined the brightest in her outing against Daemen Tuesday, Apr. 11 finishing with five goals that helped earn the Saints a win.

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: Daemen (7-7, 2-2 ECC) suffered a 13-10 loss to D'Youville and defeated St. Thomas Aquinas (16-8) last week. Graduate student Casey Decatur (Apollo Beach, Fla.) totaled eight points in the win over STAC and has totaled 70 points on the year. She leads the ECC in assists (36) and ranks second in points (70). Junior Dana Bacher (Hamburg, N.Y.) recorded her 50th point of the season during the win over STAC. She ranks third among the ECC leaders in goals (42) and sixth in points (51). Sophomore Camryn Day (Hamburg, N.Y.) recorded 10 draw control against STAC, marking the fifth time this season she has collected 109 or more DC's in a game. She leads the ECC with 97 draw controls. Daemen plays just one game this week, as the Wildcats host Roberts Wesleyan in their home finale Tuesday.

Dist. Columbia: The Firebirds fell to the Mavericks in ECC play. They are off next weekend but will host STAC in their final game of the season on the 29th.

D'Youville: No team notes submitted.

Mercy: The No. 15 Mercy College women's lacrosse team went 1-1 on the week with a loss at No. 22 New Haven and a win over UDC on Saturday. Mercy was led by freshman Andrea Mott who had a team-high-tying eight points. The Mavericks resume action on Tuesday when they play at Georgian Court at 12:30 p.m.

Molloy: No team notes submitted.

Roberts Wesleyan: Roberts played one non-conference game last week resulting in an 18-3 win over Post University. The Redhawks will travel to Daemen on Tuesday and host Molloy on Saturday.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Lacrosse team (1-12, 0-5 ECC) lost to Daemen 16-8 last week. STAC returns to action at UDC on April 29 (2:00 p.m.).
