ECC Team Notes

Daemen: Daemen was idle last week. The Wildcats return to action at the ECC Championships this weekend.

District of Columbia: The Firebirds were off last week. They head back to N.Y. on the 26th to compete in the ECC Championships.

Georgian Court: Noah Roach and Jan Volkmar authored a pair of first-place finishes for the Georgian Court University men's track and field program as the Lions enjoyed an impressive showing in Friday's Kutztown University Last Chance Meet. Roach topped all-comers in the 200m Dash as the senior sprinted to a first-place time of 23.50 seconds. Adding to the excitement, the Plainfield, N.J. native toppled the team record in the 55m Dash with a second-place showing of 6.56 seconds. The mark bests the previous program-high of 6.85 seconds, established by Michael Brazzel back on Feb. 6, 2016 at the DeSchriver Invitational. In field action, Volkmar snapped his own program-best in the Pole Vault (4.55m, TCNJ Lions Indoor Invitational, 1/15/22) with a soaring first-place height of 4.60m. Yanely Bohorquez and Jaison-Ashley Pleva authored a pair of new team records for the Georgian Court women's track and field program, and Shanae Rayside topped the competition with a first-place finish in the Triple Jump, as the Lions competed in Friday evening's Kutztown University Last Chance Meet. Bohorquez, with a time of 7.68 seconds in the preliminary round of the 55m Dash, erased the previous-best of 7.78 seconds established by Moriah Jennings back on Feb. 6, 2016 at the DeSchriver Invitational. The Georgian Court junior eventually took third-place in the finals of the event with a mark of 7.69. Not to be outdone, Pleva put together a nifty number, establishing a new program-best in the 55m Hurdles with a time of 9.12 seconds in the prelims of the event. The effort erases the previous team-low of 9.44 seconds, set by Savannah Forte at the DeSchriver Invitational (2/6/16). Rayside topped all-comers in the Triple Jump with a first-place leap of 11.30 meters. The event marks the final warm-up for the royal-and-gold before the Lions puts their title on the line in next Saturday's 2022 East Coast Conference (ECC) Indoor Championship Meet, hosted by the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, N.Y. (9:00 a.m.).
