ECC Indoor Track & Field Report - Week Four

Men's Track Athlete of the Week
Xavier Seals, Georgian Court (So - Woodstown, N.J.)
Seals placed second overall in the 800m Run at the TCNJ Lions Indoor Invitational with a time of 1:55.98. His time was the fastest in the ECC so far this season by nearly five seconds. He also collaborated for a fifth-place finish in the 4 X 400 relay with an overall mark of 3:29.38.

Men's Field Athlete of the Week
Emmanuel Mena Jimenez, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fr - West Haverstraw, N.Y.)
Mena Jimenez placed third in the Weight Throw at the STAC Spartan Invitational. His toss of 15.57m was the top finisher among ECC competitors and the best throw in the ECC this season.

Women's Track Athlete of the Week
Skylar Moreno, St. Thomas Aquinas (Sr - Congers, N.Y.)
Moreno finished second in the Mile Run at the STAC Spartan Invitational. Moreno crossed the finish line in a time of 5:12.53 and was the top finisher among ECC competitors. Her time was also the best in the event in ECC this season. 

Women's Field Athlete of the Week
Elena Martinez Rodriguez, Georgian Court (So - Madrid, Spain)
Martinez Rodriguez placed second overall in the Triple Jump at the TCNJ Lions Indoor Invitational with a leap of 10.75 meters.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Men
Andrew O'Gorman, Queens (Fr - Melville, N.Y.)
At the Spartan Invite, freshman O'Gorman recorded a career-best time of 24.14 in the 200 Meter. O'Gorman would continue his career day by recording a season-best time of 1:11.60 in the 500 Meters to place fourth.

Alex Quillan, St. Thomas Aquinas (Jr - St. Petersburg, Fla.)
Quillan finished second in the 500 Meter Dash at the STAC Spartan Invitational. Quillan crossed the finish line in a time of 1:08.64 and was the top finisher among ECC competitors.

Alejandro Valdez, Georgian Court (Sr - Bridgeton, N.J.)
Placed third overall at the TCNJ Lions Indoor Invitational with a Weight Throw effort of 14.89m ... took fourth-place with a Shot Put heave of 14.75m.

Women
Kamille Dixon, District of Columbia (Fr - Houston, Texas)
Dixon ran a time of 5:33.14 to place third in the Mile at the HBCU Showcase.

Guerlorde Estabine, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fr - West Haverstraw, N.Y.)
Estabine placed 10th in the Shot Put at the STAC Spartan Invitational. Her toss of 10.46m (34' 4") was the top finisher among ECC competitors.

Fatima Morrobel, Queens (Fr - Long Beach, N.Y.) 
In a career-day for Morrobel, the Long Beach native placed third in the 500m with a time of 1:26.37 and 10th in the 800m with a time of 2:30.64 putting together her best time of the season in both events.

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: Daemen returns to action this Saturday, Jan. 22 at the Highlander Invitational hosted by Houghton College.

District of Columbia: The University of the District of Columbia's women's indoor track and field team was back in action at the HBCU Showcase, Saturday at the Armory. Kamille Dixon placed third overall in the mile run with a time of 5:33.14. Teammate Ayesha Jarrett placed eighth out of a field of 18 in the 400m with a time of 1:00.83 and Iyanna Jackson was the top finisher for the Firebirds in the 200m dash placing ninth out of a field of 28 running 26.14s. Shanise Rose ran a time of 9.54s in the 60mh slightly missing out on the finals. Next up the Firebirds will head to Alvernia University to compete in the Alvernia Winter Invite on Saturday, January 22nd.

Georgian Court:  Georgian Court University track & field ended its six-week holiday hiatus Saturday evening as the Lions kicked off the 2022 calendar with an appearance in the TCNJ (The College of New Jersey) Lions Indoor Invitational, hosted at The Armory in New York City. Jan Volkmar made an immediate impact as the freshman eclipsed the team record in the Pole Vault with a fourth-place height of 4.55 meters. Xavier Seals took second overall in the 800-meter Run with speedy time of 1:55.98. Dylan Breen continues to remain one of the East Coast Conference's premier leapers as the senior netted a second-place finish of 6.73 meters in the Long Jump. Julia Kirschnick made headlines once again as the freshman, in her second-career collegiate meet, tied her own team record in the Pole Vault with a fifth-place finish of 3.35 meters. Elena Martinez Rodriguez (So.) enjoyed a solid showing in the Triple Jump with a second-place leap of 10.75 meters. Aniyah Russell (Sr.) soared to a third-place distance of 5.62 meters in the Long Jump. The Lions return to action this Friday as they prepare to compete in the Ramapo College Season Opener, which will also take place at The Armory in NYC.

Holy Family: Idle since December 10, the Holy Family's track & field teams will end a month-long hiatus when they return to action on Friday, January 21 at the NYC Gotham Cup at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, N.Y.

Molloy: No team notes submitted.

Post: Post was idle last week.

Queens: The Knights are off until Feb. 19 as they return to West Point, N.Y. to compete in the West Point Tune-Up.

Roberts Wesleyan: The Roberts track and field team did not compete last week.

Staten Island: The College of Staten Island Men's & Women's Indoor Track & Field teams competed at the St. Thomas Aquinas College's Spartan Invite earlier this afternoon. Overall, the Dolphins competed in 10 field and track events. The invite showcased over 10 colleges and universities and their athletes. For CSI, the only team run was run by the men's team of Ahmed Khodir, Vincent Ohenhen, Christian Fernandez, and Samuel Pope who ran in the 400 Medley Relay. The team finished eighth out of the nine teams (six schools) with a time of 12:32.94.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Indoor Track & Field team hosted its annual Spartan Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island. STAC will next compete at the Ramapo College Opener on January 21 (10:00 a.m.) inside of the 168th Street Armory in New York City.
