ECC Weekly Honor Roll
Taysha Bender, Mercy (Sr, G - Glen Burnie, Md.)
Bender averaged a team-high 17.7 points per game on 50 percent shooting with 7.0 rebounds and 3.3 steals per game as Mercy went 2-1 on the week. The senior opened the week with 20 points, seven rebounds and three assists in the win over Queens on Wednesday. The guard then had 18 points and 10 rebounds with three steals in the win over D'Youville on Friday. Bender ended the week with a team-high 15 points and six steals against Daemen on Sunday.
Tiara Filbert, Daemen (Sr, G - Batavia, N.Y.)
Filbert averaged 14.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game while leading Daemen to key ECC road wins at St. Thomas Aquinas and Mercy. She had game-highs in points (18), rebounds (8), and assists (6) in Sunday's win as the Wildcats handed Mercy their first conference loss of the season.
Toni Neely-Primus, Roberts Wesleyan (So, G - Monroe, N.Y.)
Neely-Primus averaged 15.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game in a 2-0 week for the Redhawks. She also shot 57.9 percent from the floor. Her best outing came in Roberts Wesleyan's win over Molloy in which she scored 20 points and added four steals.
Destiny Ryles, Dist. Columbia (Fr, G - Windsor Mill, Md.)
Ryles was just shy of a triple-double in the Firebird's lone game win against CSI. She packed the stat sheet with 12 points, 10 assists, eight rebounds, and five steals.

Bridgeport: The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team heads into this week's play with a 4-12 overall record and a 1-8 ECC mark after going 1-1 last week falling by one point at Molloy and defeating Queens by a single point on Sunday. This week, the Purple Knights host STAC on Wednesday and head to Mercy on Sunday. Samirah Henderson leads the Purple Knights in scoring averaging 173 points per game. She is joined in double figures by Janiece Loney at 14.4 ppg., Brianna Meekins at 13.3 ppg. and Stephanie McBride checks in averaging 12.3 points per outing. McBride, who had a career-high 25 points and a career-best 20 rebounds versus Queens in Sunday's victory, is averaging a double-double grabbing a team-best 11.1 boards per game. She is also the team leader in blocked shots with 26 so far this season. |

Daemen: Daemen improved to 9-3 overall and 7-0 in ECC play after picking up key road wins at St. Thomas Aquinas (64-48) and Mercy (55-51). The Wildcats are unbeaten in 16 straight regular season conference games dating back to the start of last season. Sunday's win knocked Mercy from the ranks of the conference unbeatens, allowing Daemen to claim sole possession of first place in the ECC standings. Daemen has held 47 of its last 56 opponents to 65 points or less, posting a 43-4 record in those games. |

District of Columbia: The Firebirds improved to 8-8 (4-3 ECC) with a 62-42 win over Staten Island in their only game last week. Destiny Ryles flirted with a triple-double and stuffed the stat sheet with 12 points, eight rebounds, 10 assists, and five steals. This week, UDC takes a trip to Western New York for ECC matchups against D'Youville and Daemen on Friday and Sunday. |

Mercy: The Mercy College women's basketball team went 2-1 on the week with wins over Queens and D'Youville and a loss to Daemen. Mercy was led by senior Taysha Bender who averaged a team-high 17.7 points per game. The Mavericks resume action on Wednesday when they play at Roberts Wesleyan at 6 p.m. |

Molloy: The Lions went 1-1 last week to move to 7-8 overall and 4-4 in ECC play. Molloy defeated Bridgeport, 58-57, Wednesday, January 19, and fell to Roberts Wesleyan, 65-43, Sunday, January 23. Senior Gabriella Aspuru tallied 21 points, and graduate student Safiyyah Lee netted 18 points in the win over the Purple Knights. Against the Redhawks, Aspuru recorded 11 points, and graduate student Maya Thomas and junior Morgan Staab added 10 points apiece. |

Roberts Wesleyan: The Roberts women's basketball team is on a four-game winning streak after picking up two wins on the road against Queens and Molloy. The Redhawks defeated Queens, 78-62, and Molloy, 65-43. Roberts will have a busy week coming up with three games in five days, including Mercy on Wednesday followed by back-to-back games with STAC on Saturday and Sunday. |

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Basketball team (6-10, 5-2 ECC) went 1-1 last week. First, the Spartans fell to Daemen 64-48, before defeating D'Youville 84-64. STAC visits Bridgeport on January 26 (5:00 p.m.) and plays back-to-back games at Roberts Wesleyan on January 29 (2:00 p.m.) and January 30 (1:00 p.m.). |
