ECC Outdoor Track & Field Report - Week Seven

Men's Track Athlete of the Week
Schnyder Germain, Molloy (Fr - Valley Stream, N.Y.)
Germain broke his own school record in the 400-meter, running a 50.01 to finish third at the TCNJ Invitational.

Men's Track Athlete of the Week
DeAndre Smith, St. Thomas Aquinas (Sr - Brentwood, N.Y.)
Smith set a new school record and hit an NCAA DII provisional mark in the High Jump at the Army West Point Twilight. Smith also took the victory in the event, leaping 2.07 meters.

Women's Track Athlete of the Week
Khareena Primus, Queens (Fr - St. Andrew, Grenada)
Primus turned on the heat in the Women's 100m final as she finished in first place with a time of 12.51 besting St. John's and Army West Point. She would finish the week with a fourth place in the SCSU Tri-Meet with a career-best time of 25.76 in the 200m event.

Women's Field Athlete of the Week
Alyssa Harrington, Daemen (So - Tonawanda, N.Y.)
Harrington placed third out of 13 in the triple jump with a personal-best effort of 10.55 meters, eclipsing her previous best mark during an outdoor event of 10.39 meters that she posted last weekend at the UB Invitational. Today's jump ranks as the fifth best in program history at an outdoor event.

ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Men
Dominic Clementi, Daemen (Jr - Barker, N.Y.)
Clementi was one of five Daemen entrants in the 1,500 meter run and he placed ninth out of 56 runners with a school-record time of 4:06.54, eclipsing the previous standard of 4:09.49 set by Ethan Dinan during the 2011 Raider Open hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College. It marked just the second time in Clementi's collegiate career that he has run the 1,500 meters. He first ran it at the Geneseo Early Season Invitational this past April and posted a time of 4:14.35.

Steven Cuascut, Queens (Jr - Queens Village, N.Y.)
Cuascut placed second in the 5000m with a time of 16:15.83 at the SCSU Tri-Meet.

Diego Folgado, Queens (Fr - Madrid, Spain)
In the Men's West Point Twilight 100m final, Folgado placed fifth with a time of 11.94. He would finish the week with a top 10 finish in the SCSU Tri-meet with a time of 11.14 before placing seventh in the 200m with a time of 23.08.

Matthew Tina, St. Thomas Aquinas (Sr - Oradell, N.J.)
Tina set a new school record for the 5000 Meter Run, clocking in at 15:26.41, which placed him third overall in the event at the Army West Point Twilight.

Women
Camryn Bailey, Daemen (So - Geneva, N.Y.)
Bailey placed second out of 57 runners in the 1,500 meters with a personal best time of 4:55.15?eclipsing her previous best time of 5:01.38 that she posted last month at the Geneseo Early Season Invitational.

Sylvie Bischof, St. Thomas Aquinas (Sr - Mebourne, Australia)
Bischof took a second place finish in the Triple Jump, leaping 10.37 meters and a ninth place finish in the Long Jump, jumping 4.49 meters at the Army West Point Twilight.

Skyla Moreno, St. Thomas Aquinas (Sr - Congers, N.Y.)
Skylar Moreno took a pair of second place finishes in the 800 Meter Run (2:19.27) and the 4x400 Meter Relay (4:24.97) at the Army West Point Twilight.

Jenna Piller, Molloy (Jr - Middle Village, N.Y.)
Piller ran a 12.63 in the 100m to finish third at the TCNJ Invitational.

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: Daemen tuned up for this weekend's conference championship meet by participating in the Rochester Alumni Invitational this past Saturday. The Daemen men placed seventh out of 14 competing teams with Dominic Clementi (school-record 1,500 meters) and Erik Matthews (three top-10 finishes) leading the way. On the women's side, Daemen placed fifth out of 15 teams and received top-five finishes from Camryn Bailey (1,500 meters), Courtney Merrill (800 meters), Alyssa Harrington (triple jump), and Alyssa Amirato (triple jump).

District of Columbia: The Firebirds prepped for the ECC Championship by competing in the Penn Relays last week. 

Molloy: The Lions ran at the TCNJ Lions Invitational. Freshman Juan Arango earned a pair of 12th place finishes in the 100-meter (11.23) and 200-meter (22.59). Freshman Schnyder Germain broke his own 400-meter record running a 50.01 to finish third. Junior Jenna Piller (12.63) and freshman Savannah James (12.94) finished third and ninth in the 100-meter. In the 400-meter, junior Meaghan O'Callaghan (1:02.96) and freshman Samantha Latorre (1:04.30) placed 12th and 17th, respectively.

Queens: The Knights will use the week to prepare for the East Coast Conference Outdoor Championship to be held on Sunday (May. 8) in Rochester, N.Y.

Roberts Wesleyan: No team notes submitted.

Staten Island: The Track and Field Men's & Women's teams both completed two races this past weekend. The Penn Relays and the NJIT Lions Invite. In both races, they fared well and are ready for this weekend's ECC Championships.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Track & Field team competed in the Army West Point Twilight meet last week. The Spartans are next in action at the ECC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Roberts Wesleyan in Rochester, N.Y. on May 8.
