ECC Outdoor Track & Field Report - Week Five

Men's Track Athlete of the Week
Matthew Tina, St. Thomas Aquinas (Sr - Oradell, N.J.)
Tina placed first in the 10000 meter run (33:44.80) at the Misericordia University Twilight, setting a new school record that was previously set by Mike Galonski back in 2011.

Men's Track Athlete of the Week
Emmanuel Mena-Jimenez, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fr - West Haverstraw, N.Y.)
Mena-Jimenez placed third in the Shot put (14.67m) at the Misericordia University Twilight, then took first place finishes in the Discus (49.74m) and Hammer throw (49.78m).

Women's Track Athlete of the Week
Skylar Moreno, St. Thomas Aquinas (Sr - Congers, N.Y.)
Moreno placed first in the 1500 meter run (4:49.75) at the Misericordia University Twilight, then took second place finishes in the 400 meter hurdles (1:06.39) and 4x400 meter relay (4:15.55).


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Women
Jenna Piller, Molloy (Jr - Middle Village, N.Y.)
Piller ran a 12.50 in the 100-meter to place 16th and a 25.75, which is a program record,  in the 200-meter to finish 18th at the Bison Outdoor Classic.

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: Daemen sent a limited roster to compete at the Brockport Spring Invitational last Friday, but the meet was canceled before it could be completed due to inclement weather. Hessen Bahgat did manage a ninth place finish in the men's javelin before the meet was scrapped. The Wildcats' full roster will be in action this Saturday, April 23 at the UB Invitational.

District of Columbia: The University of the District of Columbia's women's outdoor track and field team was idle last week. Next up, the Firebirds head to Maryland on the 23rd, to compete in the Morgan State Legacy Meet. 

Molloy: The Lions ran at the Bison Outdoor Classic. Sophomore Schnyder Germain ran a 1:59.08 in the 800-meter, and senior John Fitzsimmons ran a 4:08.60 in the 1,500-meter. On the women's side, freshman Katie Mohr placed 15th in the 3,000-meter (11:04.29), and junior Jenna Piller finished 16th in the 1,00-meter running a 12.50

Queens: The Knights are off until April 28th when they compete in the Penn Relays.

Roberts Wesleyan: No team notes submitted.

Staten Island: Track & Field did not compete this week.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Track & Field team competed in the Misericordia University Twilight, where the men's team finished first and the women third. The Spartans are next in action at the East Stroudsburg University All-American Meet on April 23.
