ECC Outdoor Track & Field Report - Week Two

Men's Track Athlete of the Week
Elizah Gordon, St. Thomas Aquinas (Jr - White Plains, N.Y.)
Gordon recorded a first place finish for the Spartans in the 100 Meter Dash at the Lafayette University Open. Gordon crossed the finish line in a time of 10.93.

Men's Field Athlete of the Week
Emmanuel Mena-Jimenez, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fr - West Haverstraw, N.Y.)
Emmanuel Mena-Jimenez took first place finishes in the Discus (49.84m) and Hammer Throw (50.48m) at the Lafayette University Open. In the discus, Mena-Jimenez broke STAC's school record previously held by former Spartan Rickssen Opont. He also took fourth in the Shot Put (14.07m)

Women's Track Athlete of the Week
Skylar Moreno, St. Thomas Aquinas (Sr - Congers, N.Y.)
Skylar Moreno recorded a second place finish for the Spartans in the 400 Meter Hurdles at the Lafayette University Open. Moreno crossed the finish line in a time of 1:09.70.

Women's Field Athlete of the Week
Faith Rousseau, Molloy (Fr - Seymour, Conn.)
Rousseau placed first in the javelin at the Stockton Invite with a throw of (34.35m), which is a school record. She placed second in the High Jump with a leap of 1.55m and fifth in the shot put with a toss of 10.44m.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Men
John Fitzsimmons, Molloy (Sr - Oceanside, N.Y.)
Fitzsimmons won the 800-meter at the Stockton Invite running a 2:00.99. He was also a member of the 4x400 that finished second recording a time of 3:31.21

Diego Folgado, Queens (Fr - Gandia, Spain)
In the 200m dash at the Mount Saint Mary Invitational, Folgado placed second with a time of 22.84. He also finished third in the 100m with a time of 11.19.

Myles Jackson, Queens (Jr - San Juan, Trinidad and Tobago)
Jackson won the men's 1500m at the Mount Saint Mary Invitational with a time of 4:22.32 as he returned from an injury that saw him miss the cross country and Indoor Track & Field season.

Women
Natalia Cuttler, Queens (Fr - Islip, N.Y.)
At the Mount Saint Mary Invitational, Cuttler took first place in the women's 1500m with a time of 5:43.11 before helping the Knights win the 4x400 with a time of 4:40.73.

Jenna Piller, Molloy (Jr - Middle Village, N.Y.)
At the Stockton Invite, Piller placed second in the 400-meter running a 1:01.42. She was also a member of the 4x100 (50.09) and 4x400 (4:10.25) that won gold.

Skylar Pointer, Staten Island (Fr - Lockport, N.Y.)
Pointer came in eighth place in the hammer at the Oscar Moore Invitational with a toss of 32.25m. The mark is the best in the ECC so far this season.

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: Daemen opens their outdoor season this Saturday, April 2 at the SUNY Geneseo Early Season Invitational. 

District of Columbia: UDC's track & field team was idle last week. Next up the Firebirds will head to Maryland on April 1st for a two-day meet at the Towson Invitational. 

Molloy: The Lions won four races and set two program records at the Stockton Invite Saturday, March 26. Senior John Fitzsimmons won the 800-meter with a time of 2:00.99. Freshman Kaitlyn Mohr (11:10.42), who ran a program record, and junior Kristi Ackerina (11:19.06) finished second and third in the 3,000-meter. The 4x400 of junior Jenna Piller, senior Meaghan O'Callaghan, junior Christi Weber, and freshman Antonette Pommells took gold crossing the line in 4:10.25. The 4x100 of Piller, Pommells, freshman Savannah James, and junior Marissa McCaffery came in first with a time of 50.09. In the Javelin, freshman Faith Rousseau placed first with a throw of (34.35m), which is a school record.

Queens: The Knights return to action on Sunday as they compete in the Coach Omeltchenko Invitational hosted by USMMA in Kings Point, N.Y.

Roberts Wesleyan: No team notes submitted.

Staten Island: The College of Staten Island Men's & Women's Outdoor Track & Field teams competed in their first event of the season in Glassboro, N.J. CSI competed in the Oscar Moore Invitational against numerous other colleges. CSI took part in ten events in total; five of which recorded new school & personal best records. Next up they will complete in the TCNJ INVITATIONAL this weekend.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Track & Field Team competed at the Lafayette University Open last week. STAC returns to action on April 1 at the Ramapo College Invitational in New Jersey.
