ECC Women's Tennis Report - Week Four

Player of the Week
Simoné Pärn, District of Columbia (Gr - Pärnu, Estonia)
Parn went 4-0 on the week with a pair of wins at both No. 1 doubles and singles. She began the week against Millersville with a 7-6 (6) doubles win and a 6-1, 6-2 win over Noelle Htwar in singles. She followed with wins against Molloy (6-4 doubles...6-0, 6-2 over Noor Goyvaerts in singles) as the Firebirds opened their ECC schedule with a 7-0 team victory. 

Rookie of the Week
Celia Bastin, District of Columbia (Fr - Dinant, Belgium)
Bastin went 4-0 on the week with a pair of wins at both No. 2 doubles and No. 5 singles. She began the week against Millersville with a 6-3 doubles win and a 6-1, 6-1 win over Sophie Lanius in singles. She followed with wins against Molloy (6-2 doubles...6-0, 6-0 over Brooke Williams in singles) as the Firebirds opened their ECC schedule with a 7-0 team victory. 


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Carly Armitage, Daemen (Fr - Rochester, N.Y.)
Armitage helped the Wildcats to a 6-1 win over Fredonia with wins at No. 2 doubles (6-0) and over Caitlin Snyder at No. 4 singles (6-0, 6-0).

Paola Ermina, D'Youville (Fr - San Sebastián, Spain)
Ermina picked up wins at No. 2 doubles (7-6 (5)) and No. 3 singles (6-4, 6-3) as D'Youville topped Fredonia, 5-2. 

Yulia Kashtelian, D'Youvlle (So - Lviv, Ukraine)
Kashtelian picked up wins at No. 1 doubles (6-1) and No. 1 singles (6-1, 6-0) as D'Youville topped Fredonia, 5-2. 

Frida Rubio, Daemen (Jr - San Diego, Calif.)
Rubio helped the Wildcats to a 6-1 win over Fredonia with wins at No. 1 doubles (6-0) and over Gabby Gance at No. 1 singles (6-0, 6-1).

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: Daemen (1-4, 0-2 ECC) posted a 6-1 win over SUNY Fredonia this past Saturday in their 2022-23 home opener. Sophomore Kitsa Scime (Williamsville, N.Y.) is a team-best 6-3 in singles play this year, while junior Frida Rubio (San Diego, Calif.) now stands just won win shy of becoming just the seventh player in program history to post 20 career singles wins. The Wildcats will play one match this week, as they take on cross-town rival D'Youville in an ECC match on Saturday.

District of Columbia: UDC went 2-0 on the week with wins over Millersville and Molloy University. The Firebirds will travel to Pennsylvania this weekend to face off against Jefferson.

D'Youville: No team notes submitted. 

Molloy: Molloy fell to the University of the District of Columbia, 7-0. The Lions sit at 0-5 (0-1 ECC) on the season and will host Queens on Friday (Oct. 7).

Queens: The Knights were off and will return to action as they host St. Thomas Aquinas in a pivotal conference match Saturday evening.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Tennis team (3-0, 2-0 ECC) had the week off after competing in the ITA East Regional Tournament last weekend. STAC returns to action on October 5 at West Chester (2:00 p.m.) and then visits Queens on October 8 (4:00 p.m.).
