ECC Baseball Report - Week Seven

Player of the Week
Anthony Vigliotti, Staten Island (Fr, C - Staten Island, N.Y.)
Vigliotti hit safely in every game the Dolphins played this week to compile a .647 average (11-for-17) and a 1.667 OPS. He finished the week with four extra-base hits including three doubles and a home run. He also had nine RBI and scored five runs in CSI's four games.

Pitcher of the Week
Ryan Kehoe, Staten Island (So, P/IF - Staten Island, N.Y.)
Kehoe led the Dolphins to an 11-0 win over Molloy on Friday with a complete game effort on the mound. In the shutout, Kehoe struck out 11 and allowed just four hits over 9.0 innings to earn his third win of the season.

Rookie of the Week
Jorsixt Jimenez, Queens (Fr, OF/P - Queens, N.Y.)
Over five games, Jimenez batted .333 with a slugging percentage of .889 as he tallied six hits, one double, three home runs, 11 RBI, and six runs scored to go with three walks. The rookie tallied a two-RBI double as Queens erased a 10-run deficit to win 14-12 over Felician. In the series-clinching victory, Jimenez went 4-for-4 with three home runs and a program-record eight RBI to lead the Knights to a 17-10 victory over SCSU on Sunday afternoon.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Marc Cisco, Queens (So, INF - Long Island City, N.Y.)
Over five games, Cisco batted .500 with a slugging percentage of 1.125 with eight hits, two doubles, one triple, two home runs, eight RBI, and seven walks. The sophomore tallied three straight multi-hit games against regionally-ranked SCSU, going 6-for-9 at the plate with five runs scored, two doubles, one triple, a home run, and six RBI.

Reed Hoskins, Queens (Jr, UTL - Freeport, N.Y.)
Over five games, Hoskins batted a scorching .529 with a slugging percentage of 1.176 with nine hits, three doubles, one triple, two home runs, eight RBI, nine runs scored, and five walks. In the comeback victory over Felician, Hoskins led the charge with a two RBI home run as Queens erased a 10-run deficit to win 14-12. Against regional-ranked SCSU, the senior became the Knight to hit for the cycle going 5-for-5 with two doubles, a triple, a home run, three RBI, and four runs scored as the Knights earned a 2-1 series victory Sunday afternoon.

Gavin McAlonie, Molloy (Jr, IF - Miller Place, N.Y.)
McAlonie was a staple in the Lions' order, collecting multi-hit performances in four of the Lions' five games this week. The junior picked up his first walk-off hit of his career with an inside-the-park home run in Molloy's 8-7 victory over CSI. To cap the week, McAlonie hit .409 (9-for-22), drove in five runs, scored four runs, hit one home run, and slugged .545.

Rob Stephens, D'Youville (So, P - Seaford, N.Y.)
Stephens picked up a win over Lincoln after tossing 6.0 innings while allowing just four hits, one run, and striking out 11.

ECC Team Notes

D'Youville: No team notes submitted.

Lincoln: No team notes submitted.

Mercy: The Mercy College baseball team went 1-3 on the week with a win over STAC and losses to Molloy and STAC. The Mavericks were led by graduate student Steven Schoen who hit .294 with a team-high-tying three RBI. Mercy resumes action on Monday when they host STAC at 3:30 p.m.

Molloy: Molloy went 3-2 on the week to move to 18-10 overall and 6-1 in league play. The Lions conclude its four-game series with Staten Island tomorrow (Apr. 3) before starting a four-game series with Queens College on Thursday, (Apr. 6).

Queens: The Knights went 4-1 on the week as they earned three series victories over CSI, Felician, and SCSU which included Queens erasing a 12-2 deficit to defeat Felician. The week concluded in a 17-10 victory over the Owls which saw the Knights break several offensive records. Queens returns to action Tuesday in non-conference play against Caldwell before opening a four-game ECC series against at Molloy on Thursday, DH at home on Sunday.

Staten Island: After a loss to Queens on Monday, the Dolphins returned to conference play with an 11-0 win over Molloy on Friday behind a complete game effort from Ryan Kehoe and six RBI's for A.J. Vigliotti. The Lions then went on to take the next two games in the four-game series on Sunday with the series finale looming on Monday.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Baseball team (11-13, 5-2 ECC) went 2-2 last week, taking two of three from Mercy (5-4 & 19-7). STAC returns to action on April 3 at Mercy, before hosting Saint Rose on April 5 and then Lincoln for a four-game ECC series on April 7 & 8.
