ECC Cross Country Report - Week Six

Men's Runner of the Week
Jon Moote, Daemen (Jr - Wilson, N.Y.)
Daemen University junior Jon Moote was the first Division II runner to finish in the highly competitive Canisius Alumni Classic on Saturday at Buffalo's Delaware Park, finishing 36th out of 170 runners with a time of 26:22.0. One week after he broke the program record 8K time, Moote's time on Saturday ranks fourth overall in the Daemen record book. The Wildcats finished 9th out of 12 teams at the meet.

Men's Rookie of the Week
Aidan Kincaid, Daemen (Fr - Orchard Park, N.Y.)
Daemen University freshman Aidan Kincaid earned a personal record on Saturday, finishing 74th out of 170 runners at the highly competitive Canisius Alumni Classic. Kincaid posted a PR time of 24:41.1, 10 seconds faster than his previous PR (27:51.9) set at the Highlander Invitational on Oct. 8. Kincaid placed third on the team, his highest team finish of the season, and helped the Wildcats to a 9th place team finish out of 12 teams.

Women's Runner of the Week
Marcy Colca, Daemen (So - Getzville, N.Y.)
Daemen University sophomore Marcy Colca was the first Wildcat runner to cross the finish line on Saturday at the Canisius Alumni Classic, finishing seventh out of 156 runners with a 5K time of 18:43.2. Colca was the only Daemen runner to finish in the top 20. She helped lead the Wildcats to a fourth place finish out of 15 teams at the meet. The Wildcats were the first non-Division I team to place.

Women's Rookie of the Week
Patsy Oberholzer, Daemen (Fr - Greece, N.Y.)
Daemen University freshman Patsy Oberholzer placed 27th out of 156 runners and earned a personal record time of 19:24.7 at the highly competitive Canisius Alumni Classic on Saturday. In just her second career collegiate 5K, Oberholzer shaved 16 seconds off her previous 5K PR (19:40.2) that she set at the Daemen Alumni Invitational on Sept. 10. 


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Men
Andrew Drescher, St. Thomas Aquinas (Sr - Duanesburg, N.Y.)

Andrew Drescher placed ninth in the St. Joseph's University Invitational, recording a time of 28:57.6. Drescher's finish helped to lead STAC to a team victory.
 
Njehan Phillip, Queens (Gr - Brooklyn, N.Y.)

Phillip placed fifth with a time of 28:25.67 finish in the SJC Invitational. 

Women
Rachel Horner-Richardson, Roberts Wesleyan (Fr - Cornish, N.H.)

Horner-Richardson finished in 36th place at the Canisius Alumni Classic, finishing in a time of 19:34.9.

Skylar Moreno, St. Thomas Aquinas (Gr - Congers, N.Y.)
Moreno placed third in the St. Joseph's University Invitational, recording a time of 20:36.6. Moreno's finish helped to lead STAC to a second place team finish.
 
Kylee Odell, Roberts Wesleyan (Jr - Panama, N.Y.)

Odell finished in 22nd place at the Canisius Alumni Classic, finishing in a time of 19:08.7.

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: The Daemen University men's and women's cross country teams ran in their final meet before conference championships at the Canisius Alumni Classic on Saturday. The women's team finished fourth out of 15 teams, marking the first time Daemen has not won a race this season. The men's team placed ninth out of 12 teams. The Wildcats are off for the next two weeks, and will race in the ECC Championships on Saturday, Nov. 5.

District of Columbia: Women's Cross Country was idle and will conclude their season at the ECC Championships on Nov 5.

D'Youville: No team notes submitted.

Molloy: Molloy was idle this week. The Lions will run at the Adelphi Short Course Showdown on Friday (Oct. 21)

Queens: The Knights competed in the St. Joseph's Invitational as men's Njehan Phillip earned a top finish in fifth place. Queens returns to action Friday afternoon as they compete in the Adelphi Showdown-Course at Bethpage State Polo Park.

Roberts Wesleyan: The Roberts Wesleyan cross country teams ran at the Canisius Alumni Classic on Saturday. The women's team took fifth place out of 15 teams. The Redhawks run again on Saturday at the Go-Fast River Run in Lock Haven, Pa.

Staten Island: The Dolphins were in action on Saturday as they participated in the SJNY Invitational.  The CSI women did not qualify to place as a team in the 5K, but they did send four runners to compete in the event.  The women were led by Alexandrea Jackson’s time of 23:46.15.  The men did qualify for placement in the 8K and took 13th overall behind standout efforts from Muhammed Qadri and Alan Bass.  Qadri finished in the top third of all runners and Bass narrowly missed out on doing the same.  Up next for Cross-Country is the Adelphi Short-Course Showdown on Friday.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Cross Country team competed at the St. Joseph's University Invitational, with the Men's team placing first and the women finishing second. Skylar Moreno (3rd place) and Andrew Dreschser (9th place) were the top finishers for the Spartans. STAC returns to action on October 21 (2 p.m./3 p.m.) at the Adelphi University Short-Course Showdown. The team will then host its annual alumni run on Saturday, October 22 at Tallman Mountain State Park in Sparkill, NY.
