ECC Cross Country Report - Week Five

Men's Runner of the Week
Jon Moote, Daemen (Jr - Wilson, N.Y.)
Daemen University junior Jon Moote paced the field of 123 runners at the Highlander Invitational for a personal best and program record first-place time of 25:30.1 over the 8K race. The junior was the only Wildcat runner to finish in the top 10. Moote shaved a minute and 11 seconds off his previous PR (26:41.6) set at the Equality Invitational on Sept. 25. His time of 25:30.1 was two seconds faster than Kevin Roginson's Daemen program record 8K time of 25:32.6 set back in 2016. Moote helped lead Daemen to a third place finish in the race.

Men's Rookie of the Week
Aidan Kincaid, Daemen (Fr - Orchard Park, N.Y.)
Daemen University freshman Aidan Kincaid finished 41st out of 123 runners at the Highlander Invitational on Saturday. Kincaid set a personal record with a time of 27:51.9, shaving over a minute off his previous PR (29:01.0) set at the Equality Invitational on Sept. 25.

Women's Runner of the Week
Marcy Colca, Daemen (So - Getzville, N.Y.)
Daemen University Marcy Colca continues to dominate in her sophomore season, pacing the field of 95 to run to her fourth straight victory, posting a time of 22:57.5 over the 6K race. She continues to make Daemen program history with her fourth straight win, the most consecutive first place finishes for a Daemen women's cross country team runner. Colca was the first of five Wildcat runners to finish in the top-10 and helped lead the Cats to their fourth straight team win (another ongoing program record).

Women's Rookie of the Week
Patsy Oberholzer, Daemen (Fr - Greece, N.Y.)
Daemen University freshman Patsy Oberholzer continues to shine in her first college cross country season. At the Highlander Invitational on Saturday, Oberholzer finished fourth overall, posting a time of 23:25.2 in her first collegiate 6K race. She helped race the Wildcats to their fourth straight team victory, an ongoing program record.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Men
Andrew Drescher, St. Thomas Aquinas (Sr - Duanesburg, N.Y.)

Andrew Drescher placed ninth in the NJIT Highlander Challenge, recording a time of 26:11.0. Drescher's finish helped to lead STAC to a fourth place team finish.
 
Njehan Phillip, Queens (Gr - Brooklyn, N.Y.)

Njehan Phillip earned a top-30 finish at the NJIT Highlander Challenge as the Brooklyn native finished 28th with a time of 27.20.0.

Henry Smith, D'Youville (So - Lockport, N.Y.)
Smith continued to be a force on the cross country course for D'Youville. The Lockport, N.Y. native placed first in the Meghan Memorial Invite hosted by Hilbert College. His time of 16:29.6 was a program record, crushing the previous record by over 20 seconds. Smith's time was just over a five-minute mile average, and helped the Saints to a second-place finish overall.
 
Aiden Watson, Molloy (So - Levittown, N.Y.)

Watson finished 10th at the NJIT Highlander XC Challenge. The sophomore ran a personal best of 05:16.8 to pace Molloy's runners.

Women
Alexis Hall, Queens (Jr - West River, Md.)

Hall was the top finisher for the Knights at the NJIT Highlander Challenge placing 36th with a season-best time of 20:50.0.
 
Lexie Hillman, D'Youville (Fr - Alden, N.Y.)

Hillman had an outstanding performance on the cross country course at the Meghan Memorial Invite. The Alden, N.Y. native placed fourth overall with a time of 21:03.8 - a personal best. Her efforts on the course helped the Saints to a first-place finish at the meet.

Skylar Moreno, St. Thomas Aquinas (Gr - Congers, N.Y.)
Moreno placed 11th in the NJIT Highlander Challenge, recording a time of 19:04.0, and was the only ECC member to finish in the top 15. Moreno's finish helped to lead STAC to a second place team finish.
 
Lainie Smith, D'Youville (Fr - Lancaster, N.Y.)

Smith continued to be a strong runner for the Saints, finishing third overall at the Meghan Memorial Invite. The Lancaster, N.Y. native clocked a personal-best 20:41.4 in the race, helping the team to a first-place finish.

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: The Daemen University women's cross country team continues to make program history, winning their fourth consecutive meet out of nine teams on Saturday at the Highlander Invitational. The Wildcats placed five runners in the top ten, including sophomore Marcy Colca who won her fourth straight race. The men's team finished third out of ten teams on Saturday, also at the Highlander Invitational. Junior Jon Moote won his second straight race and set a school record with his 8K time of 25:30.1. All 12 Daemen runners set personal bests in the meet. Daemen returns to Buffalo on Saturday, Oct. 15 where they will participate in the Canisius Alumni Classic.

District of Columbia: No team notes submitted.

D'Youville: No team notes submitted.

Molloy: The Lions ran at the NJIT Highlander XC Challenger the men finished in 3rd and the women placed 5th.

Queens: The Knights competed in the NJIT Highlander Challenge Saturday morning as the women's side placed fourth among D2 teams. Queens will compete in the St. Joseph's Invitational Saturday morning.

Roberts Wesleyan: No team notes submitted.

Staten Island: Traveling to Newark, New Jersey on Saturday, Cross-Country took part in the NJIT Highlander Invitational.  Participating in the meet for the fourth time in the last five years, both the men and women took 19th place out of 26 teams.  Individually, two Dolphins posted times in the top half of their respective fields.  Muhammed Qadri posted a time of 29:51.61 for the men in the 8K, good for 65th overall.  Julia Calvo posted a time of 24:30.93 for the women in the 5K, good for 88th overall.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Cross Country team competed at the NJIT Highlander Challenge, with the Women's team placing second and the men finished fourth. Andrew Drescher (9th place) and Skylar Moreno (11th place) were the top finishers for the Spartans. STAC returns to action on October 15 (11:00 a.m) at the St. Joseph's University Invitational.
