ECC Cross Country Report - Week Seven

Men's Runner of the Week
James Betts, Roberts Wesleyan (Sr - Congers, N.Y.)
Betts finished second out of 80 runners at the R.K. Munsey Invitational. He crossed the line in a time of 25:39.9.

Men's Rookie of the Week
Aiden Watson, Molloy (Fr)
Watson ran at the St. Joseph's Invite on Saturday (Oct. 16), running a 28:48.28 to finish sixth out of 144 participants.

 

Women's Runner of the Week
Kassandra Nolet, Daemen (Sr - Fort Erie, Ontario)
Nolet placed third out of 122 runners with a time of 19:01.8 to lead Daemen to a first-place showing at the 12-team Canisius Alumni Classic. It marked the fourth top-five finish of the season for Nolet, who has now placed first among Daemen runners in four of five races this season.

Women's Rookie of the Week
Kaitlyn Mohr, Molloy (Fr - Rockville Centre, N.Y.)
Mohr ran at the St. Joseph's Invite on Saturday (Oct. 16), running a 19:31.47 to finish third out of 119 participants.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

John Fitzsimmons, Molloy (Sr - Oceanside, N.Y.)
Fitzsimmons ran at the St. Joseph's Invite on Saturday (Oct. 16), crossing the line in 27:50.77 to finish third out of 144 participants.

Bailey Gostomski, Roberts Wesleyan (Sr - Cattaraugus, N.Y.)
Gostomski finished fourth out of 88 runners at the R.K. Munsey Invitational. She crossed the line in a time of 19:04.2.   

Abagaile Kimbrell, St. Thomas Aquinas (Gr - Monroe, N.Y.)
Tina finished eighth overall, with a time of 28:54.32, at the St. Joseph's College Cross Country Invitational last weekend.

ECC Team Notes

Bridgeport: The Purple Knights were idle last week and are ready to compete at this weekend's ECC Championship Meet in Rochester.

Daemen: The Wildcats took part in the Canisius Alumni Classic which was held at Delaware Park in Buffalo. The women posted their fourth team title in five races this season, as Daemen topped a 12 team field that featured a mix of NCAA Division I, II and III schools. Daemen, which is ranked fifth in the latest NCAA Division II East Region poll released by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, produced three of the top eight finishers. Redshirt senior Kassandra Nolet (Fort Erie, Ont.) and freshman Marcy Colca (Getzville, N.Y.) paced the Wildcats again today. Nolet placed third out of 122 runners with a time of 19:01.8. It marked the fourth top five finish of the season for Nolet. Colca posted her third top five effort of the year and placed fifth overall with a time of 19:37.0. The men placed eighth out of 12 schools and were paced by sophomore Jon Moote (Wilson, N.Y.) who placed 15th with a time of 27:06.2. Daemen returns to action Saturday (Oct. 23) at the ECC Championship on the campus of Roberts Wesleyan College.

District of Columbia: The UDC women's cross country team was off last week but will be back in action at the ECC Championships this week.

D'Youville: No team notes submitted.

Molloy: No team notes submitted.

Queens: The regular season concluded on Saturday in the SJC Invitational and now the Knights will use the week to prepare for the ECC Championship hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Roberts Wesleyan: The Roberts Cross Country teams ran at the R.K. Munsey Invitational on Saturday. The men's team placed second and the women's team placed third.

Staten Island: The College of Staten Island Cross Country men's and women's teams raced in their final meet of the season at Sunken Meadow Park as part of the St. Joseph's College Invite. The men placed eighth overall among the 23 participating schools. The women place 12th among the 14 participating schools. Next up is the ECC Championship.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Cross Country program competed at the St. Joseph's College Cross Country Invitational. The women's team finished first overall, while the men finished second. Abagaile Kimbrell finished second overall in a time of 19:18.15 for the women's squad, while Matt Tina finished eighth overall in a time of 28:54.32 on the men's side. The Spartans will next compete in the ECC Cross Country Championships, hosted by Roberts Wesleyan in Rochester on October 23.
