ECC Cross Country Report - Week Six

Men's Runner of the Week
Daniel Agostinho-Vides, St. Thomas Aquinas (Sr - Westwood, N.J.)
Agostinho-Vides finished fifth overall, with a time of 27:01.77, at the St. Joseph's College Golden Eagle Invitational last weekend.

Men's Rookie of the Week
Henry Smith, D'Youville (Fr - Lockport, N.Y.)
Smith picked up his first win as a collegian on Saturday at the Meghan Memorial. The first-year Saint finished six seconds clear of the field with a time of 17:18.16. It was the first individual win by a Saint since the same event in 2019.

 

Women's Runner of the Week
Abagaile Kimbrell, St. Thomas Aquinas (Gr - Monroe, N.Y.)
Kimbrell finished first overall, with a time of 18:41.02, at the St. Joseph's College Golden Eagle Invitational last weekend.

Women's Rookie of the Week
Kamille Dixon, District of Columbia (Fr - Houston, Texas)
Dixon won a race for the second week in a row as she was first across the line at the Goucher Coach Caslin Classic. She finished the 6K course in a time of 23:58.6.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Ciara Durcan, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fr - Orangeburg, N.Y.)
Durcan finished third overall, with a time of 20:10.22 at the St. Joseph's College Golden Eagle Invitational last weekend.

Hannah Kennedy, D'Youville (So - Hamburg, N.Y.)
Kennedy finished second at the Meghan Memorial on Saturday with a time of 21:51.0. Kennedy paced the Saints once again, the sophomore has been the top finisher for the Saints at all five meets this season.

Njehan Phillip, Queens (Gr - Brooklyn, N.Y.)
Competing in rainy conditions Sunday at Bethpage State Park, graduate student Njehan Phillip placed eighth with a time of 27:12.98 to pace the Knights to a 12th place finish in the Golden Eagle Invitational.

ECC Team Notes

Bridgeport: The University of Bridgeport cross country took part in their final meet before the 2021 East Coast Championship Meet that will take place in Rochester, New York on October 23 on Saturday afternoon, as the Purple Knights ran in the 13th annual Mt. St. Mary's (NY) Invitational. The UB men finished in eighth place in their 8K event; while the Bridgeport women finished in ninth place in their 6K race. In the men's race, the Purple Knights' top finisher was junior D'Andre Collins who took 36th place in a time of 34:31.4. Senior Tyler McNeil was the next Purple Knight across the line just behind Collins in 41st place in a time of 36:37.1. In the women's race, graduate student Alexis Richardson was the first UB finisher taking 15th place in a time of 29:24.4. Junior Alexandra Toth was next taking 22nd place covering the course in a time of 30:18.7.

Daemen: The Daemen women's and men's cross country teams were both idle this past weekend. The Wildcats return to action Saturday (Oct. 16) when they take part in the Canisius College Alumni Classic in Buffalo, N.Y. The Daemen women were ranked sixth in last week's USTFCCCA regional poll.

District of Columbia: The Firebirds are off this week as they prepare for the ECC Championships.

D'Youville: The D'Youville won the Meghan Memorial on Saturday at Hilbert ... It was the first team win for the Saints since the same event in 2019 ... Hannah Kennedy finished second for the Saints ... In the men's race, freshman Henry Smith won the men's race as the Saints finished second as a team ... It was Smith's first win of his career ...

Molloy: The Lions were off last week.

Queens: Queens travels to King Park, N.Y. as they compete in the SJC Invitational on Saturday (Oct. 16).

Roberts Wesleyan: The Roberts cross country teams did not compete.

Staten Island: Cross Country had another week off. This week they will travel to the St. Joseph's Invite at Sunken Meadow Park.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's and Women's Cross Country teams both finished first at the St. Joseph's College Golden Eagle Invitational. Abagaile Kimbrell finished first overall in a time of 18:41.02 for the women's squad, while Daniel Agostinho-Vides finished fifth overall in a time of 27:01.77 on the men's side. The Spartans will next compete in the St. Joseph's Invitational at Sunken Meadow State Park on October 16 at 11 a.m.
