ECC Women's Soccer Report - Week Four

Offensive Player of the Week
Kylie Miranto, Daemen (Sophomore, Midfielder - North Tonawanda, N.Y.)
Miranto went off for nine points on four goals and an assist in Daemen’s 2-0-1 week. In the first match of the week against Chestnut Hill, Miranto scored (6’) in the eventual 1-1 draw. The sophomore went on to factor into the first three scoring plays in Daemen’s 6-1 win over Staten Island, assisting in the first goal of the match (8’) before scoring in the 14th and 22nd minutes. Miranto would then score the first goal of the match (36’) in Daemen’s 2-0 win over Lake Erie. 

Defensive Player of the Week
Becca Schultz, Daemen (Sophomore, Goalkeeper - Grand Island, N.Y.)
Schultz made 25 saves on 27 shots on goal during a 2-0-1 week. The sophomore made a career-high 12 saves in a 1-1 tie at Chestnut Hill, 11 saves in a 6-1 win over Staten Island, and two saves in a 2-0 win over Lake Erie. The honor marks Schultz's second of the season after being tabbed the ECC Defensive Player of the Week last week.

Rookie of the Week
Magda Carpenter, Daemen (Freshman, Midfielder - Lebanon, Conn.)
Carpenter recorded six points in Daemen’s 2-0-1 week. The freshman assisted on Offensive Player of the Week Kylie Miranto’s goal (6’) in a 1-1 draw at Chestnut Hill and registered two goals (8’, 27’) - the first multi-goal game of her career - in a 6-1 win over Staten Island. Carpenter capped the week with an assist on Daemen’s second goal (57’) in a 2-0 win over Lake Erie.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Erin Kelly, Queens (Senior, Goalkeeper - Massapequa, N.Y.)
Continuing a tough schedule, Kelly recorded 10 saves across two matches last week. The graduate student posted six saves to help Queens shut out #16 Southern New Hampshire, as the Knights earned their first shutout victory over a nationally-ranked opponent. Against defending ECC champions Mercy, Kelly notched four saves. 

Caitlin Kennedy, Molloy (Senior, Forward - Manhasset, N.Y.)
Kennedy collected her first career hat trick en route to a seven-point performance against Lincoln. The graduate student factored into the first four scoring plays of the match as she assisted on the opening goal in the fifth minute before scoring three consecutive times (23’, 31’, 57’). Kennedy landed five of her nine shots on goal in 71 minutes of play. 

Julia Ragone, Queens (Junior, Forward - Centereach, N.Y.)
Ragone recorded her second career match-winning goal as the junior forward stunned nationally-ranked #16 Southern New Hampshire, 1-0. With the Penmen earning a corner kick in the 69th minute, a free ball would be punted toward Ragone, who dribbled and battled three defenders up the field before sending an 18-yard shot over the Penmen goalkeeper.

Kailie Regan, D’Youville (Sophomore, Goalkeeper - Holley, N.Y.)
Regan made a career-high 11 saves to help the Saints to their first win of the season, a 1-0 shutout win over Ursuline.
