ECC Women's Bowling Report - Week Nine

Bowler of the Week
Mollie Gizicki, Daemen (Jr - Brighton, Mich.)
Gizicki led Daemen to a 6-1 week and a second-place showing at the Brother Patrick Lacey Memorial Tournament. She helped the Wildcats sweep a dual match with nationally-ranked Saint Vincent with 418 pins during two traditionally-scored matches. She then posted the highest scoring average (202.40) and All-Tournament honors at the Brother Patrick Lacey Memorial Tournament. Gizicki rolled a 246 in a 1,014-934 loss to host Saint Vincent in the championship match.

Rookie of the Week
Laura Clark, Bryant (Fr - Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.)
Clark posted a 17.81 frame average at the James Brown Invitational. She finished with a 72.0 fill percentage and a 42.4 strike percentage (50-for-118). She also rolled the Bulldogs' highest individual score of the weekend, with a 266 against Fayetteville State. 


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Emily Eldredge, Saint Anslem (Fr - Fort Huachuca, Ariz.)
Was the top-performing ECC freshman at the Lady Techster Classic this past week, averaging a 172.71 to place 20th out of 50 bowlers. Ranked third out of the first-year bowlers in the entire field, trailing only freshmen from Vanderbilt and Tulane. Posted a career-best 205 versus the Green Wave while leading the team in recoveries (12-for-14, 85.7%).

Alexis Miller, Saint Anselm (So - Denver, Pa.)
Ranked 18th out of 50 bowlers at the Lady Techster Classic with a 176.86 traditional average against several nationally-ranked opponents. On Sunday, she was the team's top bowler (182.25), picking up a 194 against No. 22 Tulane and a 193 versus Southern in her team's fourth match of the day, giving her three 190+ matches in her last five events.

Jess Pinelli, Molloy (Fr - Manorville, N.Y.)
Pinelli spearheaded the Lions on the lanes at the Suffolk Tournament last week. The freshman put together a three-game set of 702 in singles competition including a career-best 280 game to average 234 on the afternoon, good to place first in the event. The freshman also placed first in all-events play. For her performance, she was named to the All-Tournament Team

ECC Team Notes

Adelphi: In the heart of the Lone Star State, the Adelphi University women's bowling team competed this past weekend at the Lady Techsters Classic in Dallas. Not only did Arthur O'Connor win his first two collegiate matches as head coach, Adelphi placed sixth in the field and led all non-Division I schools with a 10,927 total pinfall and a 156.1 average. Adelphi played up to its competition and bowled its three best series of the weekend against nationally-ranked Vanderbilt, Louisiana Tech and Tulane. Senior Kristen Derr finished among the Top 10 traditional bowlers with a 196.2 average, highlighted by the team's high game of 249. Junior Blanca Fraticelli, who rolled two 200 games, trailed right behind in 14th. The Panthers have this weekend off before taking to the New Jersey Open, hosted by Fairleigh Dickinson University, from Feb. 24-26 at Hamilton Lanes in Hamilton Township, N.J.

Bryant: No team notes submitted.

Daemen: Daemen (35-23) went 6-1 last week. The Wildcats swept Saint Vincent College in a dual match Friday night in a matchup of nationally-ranked programs. Daemen entered the weekend ranked No. 11 in the National Tenpin Coaches Association Division II/III poll, while Saint Vincent is ranked No. 13. Daemen then placed second in the Brother Patrick Lacey Memorial Tournament hosted by Saint Vincent on Saturday. The Wildcats posted the highest overall total pinfall of the seven teams (4,683), but were denied the championship after losing to Saint Vincent in the championship match. Junior Mollie Gizicki (Brighton, Mich.) and senior Paige Bartosz (West Seneca, N.Y.) both earned all-tournament honors. Gizicki posted a tournament best 202.40 average, while Bartosz ranked third with a 197.80 average. Daemen returns to action this weekend (Feb. 17-19) when it takes part in the Wildcat Division II-III Invitational hosted by Wilmington University in New Castle, Del. Daemen is the defending tournament champion.

Roberts Wesleyan: On Saturday, February 11, 2023, the women's bowling team won the 2023 USBC RIT Tiger Cup, hosted by Rochester Institute of Technology at Bowlero Empire in Webster, NY. The format consisted of seven traditional matches with the highest total pinfall taking home the championship. In addition, three of the ladies secured spots on the All-Tournament Team. Danielle Jaeger led the way for Roberts, claiming the third-place spot with a 1,213. Sophomore Luz Torres captured the 4th-placed spot with a 1,201. Junior Mykenzie Burnett earned the fifth and final spot with a 1,200 series. The ladies take a short break and return to the lanes on February 25-26, 2023, for the Medaille Classic Tournament, hosted by Medaille University, in Buffalo, NY.

Saint Anselm: Saint Anselm finished the three-day Lady Techster Classic in eighth place...Was seventh out of eight teams in total pinfall (10,764)...Four Hawks bowlers for the Hawks finished in the top half of the individual standings, led by sophomore Alexis Miller (Denver, Pa.) and her three-day average of 176.86... On Sunday, she was the team's top bowler (182.25), picking up a 194 against No. 22 Tulane and a 193 versus Southern in her team's fourth match of the day, giving her three 190+ matches in her last five events...Sophomore Madison Gentes (Goffstown, N.H.) bowled a career-high 220 against Sam Houston and delivered a 178.25 average on the day...Freshman Emily Eldredge (Fort Huachuca, Ariz.) posted a career-best 205 versus the Green Wave and junior Ruth Magana (Federal Way, Wash.) produced a 203 in the opener against Vanderbilt...Freshman Maeve Murray (Marshfield, Mass.) equaled a career-high mark with a 129 versus Southern, a feat first accomplished against St. Francis (N.Y.) on Saturday, Oct. 2

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Bowling team competed in both the Suffolk Community College Sharks Open and the Wagner College Three-Match Dual. STAC returns to action on February 17-19 at the Wilmington University DII-DIII Wildcat Invitational.
