ECC Women's Bowling Report - Week Three

Bowler of the Week
Haley Youker, Mercyhurst (Gr - East Syracuse, N.Y.)
For the second straight week, Youker led the ECC in frame average (22.07) by 2.0 pins after an MVP performance at the Bearcat Roto Grip Open hosted by McKendree. Youker led the way in traditional format, with an average of 223.50 over five games. She also led the ECC in Baker frame average with a mark of 21.83 and finished second in the conference with a 65.4 strike percentage with 85 strikes on 130 tosses. 

Rookie of the Week
Emily Kulkarni, Molloy (Fr - Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.)
Kulkarni placed 10th in traditional play at the Golden Bear Invite. The freshman had a total pinfall of 957, to average 191.4. Overall, Kulkarni ranked third in the conference with a 19.66 frame average and second with a 20.95 Baker frame average. 


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Caitlyn Nowak, Daemen (Sr - West Seneca, N.Y.)
Nowak led the Wildcats to the team title at the Grapevine Classic this past Saturday. She competed in all five matches and finished with the second highest average (188.6) among all 27 bowlers. named to the all-tournament team.

Hannah Skalacki, Molloy (So - Coram, N.Y.)
Skalacki bowled at the Golden Bear Invite, finishing seventh overall in traditional play. The sophomore had a five-game pinfall of 978 to average 195 for the tournament in traditional play, including a season-high 233 game.

Chloe Sromovski, Kutztown (Jr - Wilkes Barre, Pa.) 
Kutztown junior Chloe Sromovski posted the fourth-best traditional average with a 197.6 to make the all-tournament team at last weekend's Golden Bear Invite. Sromovski opened with a 228 and recorded 200+ scores in three of five matches. The Wilkes-Barre, Pa., native also anchored all five Baker matches for the Golden Bears as they went 3-2 Sunday and defeated Molloy 4-2 in a best-of-7 series to claim fifth place at their home tournament.

ECC Team Notes

Adelphi: The Panthers were idle last week. Head Coach Dennis Kearney?s squad is set to invite a slew of nationally-ranked programs to Long Island and Coram Country Lanes this weekend for the second-annual DezyStrong Classic (Oct. 28-30).

Bryant: No team notes submitted.

Daemen: Daemen will be in action for the second-straight weekend, as the Wildcats host the Daemen Fall Classic this weekend (Oct. 29-30) at Lancaster Lanes. The Wildcats are coming off a successful appearance at the Grapevine Classic this past Saturday in Erie, Pa., as they won all five of their matches and claimed the team title. Senior Caitlyn Nowak (West Seneca, N.Y.) competed in all five matches and finished with the second-highest average (188.6) among all 27 bowlers. Senior Nicole Bergeron (Lima, N.Y.) who posted a 174.0 average, and junior Emma Smith (Williamsville, N.Y) who finished with a 168.4 average both ranked among the top-10 bowlers and were named to the all-tournament team along with Nowak.

D'Youville: No team notes submitted.

Kutztown: Kutztown registered 3-2 records in both traditional and Baker formats to finish fifth at its home Golden Bear Invite last weekend.

Chloe Sromovski led the way for KU, placing fourth in the individual standings with a 197.6 average. Ally Sipe and Shelby Wunch collected top 20 finishes, with Sipe 15th at 187.2 and Wunch 20th at 182.6. The trio appeared in all five matches, which included victories over D’Youville, Bloomfield, and Chestnut Hill. Sromovski had Kutztown’s high game Saturday, opening with a 228 against D’Youville.

In Baker play Sunday, Kutztown picked up wins over Felician and eventual champion Caldwell, before defeating Molloy, 4-2, in a best-of-7 match for fifth place.

Kutztown returns to action Nov. 5-6 at the Medaille Invitational in Buffalo, N.Y.

Mercyhurst: No team notes submitted.

Molloy: Molloy participated at the Golden Bear Invite, hosted by Kutztown University. The Lions went 5-0 in traditional play on day one, and ended the two-day tournament with a combined record of 6-4 to place sixth. Molloy now sits at 19-11 overall and will compete at the Dezy Strong Classic this weekend in Coram, N.Y.

St. Thomas Aquinas: St. Thomas Aquinas College opens its 2022-2023 schedule at the Wagner College Invitational on November 5-6 on Staten Island.
