ECC Women's Bowling Report - Week Two

Bowler of the Week
Haley Youker, Mercyhurst (Gr - East Syracuse, N.Y.)
Youker led the ECC in frame average (22.01) by nearly 2.0 pins after a standout performance at the MOTIV Penguin Classic hosted by Youngstown State. Youker finished third in traditional format, with an average of 216.00 over five games. She also excelled in Baker format, leading the ECC with a 22.52 frame average. Youker topped the ECC with a 64.6 strike percentage, as well.

Rookie of the Week
Taylor Just, D'Youville (Fr - N/A)
Just helped the Saints to two wins in three matches in a dual match against Roberts Wesleyan with a frame average of 19.73, good for fourth in the conference last week. She also topped the ECC with a 93.3 fill percentage.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Kristen Derr, Adelphi (Sr - Sunbury, Pa.)
Averaged a team-leading 189.0 in both Baker and traditional tournaments at the SHU Bowl for the Cure ... Finished among the Top 10 bowlers in the traditional field and led the 'Cats with a 78.0 percent fill rate in the Baker tournament ... Also averaged a 206.0 as the anchor bowler for the Panthers in the traditional competition.

Emily Kulkarni, Molloy (Fr - Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.)
Kulkarni appeared in day two of the Bowl For the Cure Tournament, averaging 199 in traditional play. The freshman shot a collegiate-high 237 against Bryant to lead Molloy past the Bulldogs, 947-813. The Lake Ronkonkoma native was named to the All-Tournament team for her performance.

Hannah Skalacki, Molloy (So - Coram, N.Y.)
Skalacki was a mainstay throughout the lineup at the Bowl For The Cure tournament this past weekend. The sophomore standout averaged 197.6 in traditional play to finish third out of 27 participants. For her efforts on the lanes, she earned All-Tournament team honors.

Samantha Strebel, Mercyhurst (Sr - Harrisville, Utah)
Strebel ranked second in the ECC with a 20.06 frame average last week. She really excelled in Baker format, compiling a 20.96 frame average.

ECC Team Notes

Adelphi: With the second-annual DezyStrong Invitational on the horizon, the Adelphi University women's bowling team returned to the Sacred Heart University Bowl for the Cure in Fairfield this weekend to open the 2022-23 campaign. While the Panthers were defending their Baker and traditional tournament trophies from a season ago, Adelphi managed a 4-5 start on the heels of a second-place finish in the Baker competition. Reigning ECC All-Conference bowler Kristen Derr was very much in form, averaging a team-leading 189.0 in both tournaments. She finished among the Top 10 bowlers in the traditional field and led the 'Cats with a 78.0 percent fill rate in the Baker tournament. In her collegiate debut, Madison Mosley obtained a mark on a team-high 82.0 percent of her throws in the traditional competition. The freshman made 31 total spares in traditional matches, with exceptional conversion rates of 90.9 percent on makeable tries and 94.7 percent on single-pin attempts. Head Coach Dennis Kearney's Adelphi squad is set to welcome in some of the nation's most elite bowling programs for the 2022 DezyStrong Classic next weekend (Oct. 28-30) in Coram, N.Y. at Coram Country Lanes.

Daemen: Daemen (7-3) was idle last week and returns to action this weekend when it heads to Erie, Pa. to take part in the Grapevine Classic hosted by Penn State Behrend. The Wildcats opened the 2022-23 season at the Mercyhurst Invitational two weeks ago (Oct, 8-9). The Wildcats won seven of 10 matches and placed third out of eight teams.
