ECC Cross Country Report - Week Four

Men's Runner of the Week
Jon Moote, Daemen (Senior - Wilson, N.Y.)
Moote paced the Wildcats for the second straight meet, finishing sixth out of 175 runners with an 8k time of 25:38.0 at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational. The senior led Daemen to a second-place team finish out of 14 teams, marking a program-best team finish at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational for the Wildcats. Paced by a 5:09.4 average mile, his time of 25:38.0 ranks third all-time in the Daemen 8k record books. 

Men's Rookie of the Week
CJ Johnson, Daemen (Freshman, Baltimore, Md.)
Johnson placed 18th in a field of 175 runners at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational, clocking in with a collegiate-best 8k time of 26:10.7 to help Daemen to a second-place team finish in a field of 14 squads. Paced by a 5:16.0 mile average, Johnson shaved a minute and a half off his previous 8k time set last weekend at the Daemen Alumni Invitational. His new PR time of 26:10.7 ranks fourth in the Daemen 8k record books.  

Women's Runner of the Week
Rachel Horner-Richardson, Roberts Wesleyan (Sophomore - Cornish, N.H.)
Horner-Richardson won the Harry F. Anderson Invitational, placing first in a field of 147 runners to take home her first cross country individual win. Paced by a mile average of 5:57.3, the sophomore out of Roberts Wesleyan crossed the finish line in a collegiate-best 5k time of 18:30.3, shaving 40 seconds off of her previous-best performance, set at the ECC Cross Country Championship last fall. Horner-Richardson led the Redhawks to a first-place team finish in a field of 13 squads. 

Women's Rookie of the Week
Zoe Merryman, St. Thomas Aquinas (Freshman - Mahwah, N.Y.)
Merryman was the only Division II runner to finish in the top 45 of the Bard College/Fred Pavlich Invitational, placing eighth in a field of 136 runners. Paced by a 6:12.6 mile average, her 6k PR time of 23:09.4 helped the Spartans finish fifth in a field of 15 programs. 


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Men
Daniel DeGregori, Queens (Freshman - East Meadow, N.Y.)
For the third meet in a row, DeGregori led the Knights as he placed sixth in a field of 136 runners with an 8k time of 30:03.2 at the MSMC Knight Invitational. Paced by a mile average of 6:02.7, the time was three seconds faster than his 8k time at the LIU Fall Festival two weekends ago and helped Queens to a fourth-place team finish in a field on 19 squads. 

Henry Smith, D’Youville (Junior - Lockport, N.Y.)
Smith had a a record-breaking performance at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational, setting the program’s 8k record with a time of 25:56.0. Paced by a 5:13.0 mile average, Smith placed 12th in a field of 175 runners to lead the team to a new program record for fastest team time in 2:24:56, good for ninth in a field of 14 squads. 

Jah Whyte, Staten Island (Freshman - Maumelle, Ark.)
In his cross country collegiate debut, Whyte finished just outside of the top half of the field in the Fred Pavlich Invitational, crossing the 8k finish line in 29:13.10. That time was good for one of the top 25 8k marks in CSI’s program history.

Women
Rachel Mow, Queens (Sophomore - Esopus, N.Y.)
Mow paced the Knights as she finished third in a field of 117 runners at the MSMC Knight Invitational. Paced by a 7:05.2 average mile, Mow clocked in with a collegiate-best 6k time of 26:25.3 to help Queens to a third-place team finish in a field of 15 squads. 

Lainie Smith, D’Youville (Sophomore - Lancaster, N.Y.)
Smith had a historic day for the Saints at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational, setting the program’s new 5k record with a time of 18:50.6. Paced by a 6:03.9 mile average, Smith placed sixth in a field of 147. Smith and the Saints also set a new program record for the fastest team time with 1:38:23 en route to a fifth-place team finish in a field of 13 squads. 

Hannah Thomas, Daemen (Fifth Year, Cheektowaga, N.Y.)
Thomas was one of three Daemen runners to participate in the Harry F. Anderson Invitational and led the pack with a 14th-place finish out of 147 participants. Paced by a 6:09.9 mile average, Thomas clocked in with a 5k PR of 19:09.2, shaving 19 seconds off her previous 5k PR set last weekend at the Daemen Alumni Invitational.
