ECC Volleyball Report - Week Six

Player of the Week
Kate Ryan, Daemen (So, RS - Buffalo, N.Y.)
Daemen sophomore Kate Ryan played in all three sets and tallied a season and career-high 14 kills (4.66 kills/set) for a .294 hitting percentage in the Wildcats' 3-0 sweep over Roberts Wesleyan last Wednesday. She also added two digs and a service ace in the victory. 

Defensive Player of the Week
Teagan Weber, Roberts Wesleyan (So, DS - Galveston, Texas)
Weber had 46 digs over two matches, good for 6.57 per set. She began the week with 26 digs against Daemen and followed with 20 more against D'Youville. She also added six service aces on the week. 

Setter of the Week
Yarianne Gonzalez, Mercy (Sr, S - Manati, Puerto Rico)
Gonzalez had a team-high 69 assists with 20 digs and seven kills in a 1-1 week for Mercy. The senior opened the week with 23 assists, nine digs and two kills at Molloy on Wednesday. The setter ended the week with a match-high 46 assists with 11 digs and five kills in the win over Queens on Saturday.

Rookie of the Week
Kaitlin Jordan, Molloy (Fr, M - Waunakee, Wis.)
Jordan was a force in the middle in Molloy's win over Mercy College, recording eight kills and attacking at a .350 clip. The freshman also added two service aces and two digs along with one block.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Kathleen Doherty, Molloy (Jr, OH - Massapequa Park, N.Y.)
Doherty attacked at .444 on the week, tallying eight kills with no errors against Mercy. The junior also added seven digs, two aces, and two assists against the Mavericks in Molloy's lone contest on the week.

Christina Franco, Queens (So, OH - Lynbrook, N.Y.)
Franco tallied her sixth double-double of the year as the sophomore notched 10 kills and 10 digs to go with 2 blocks and 2 service aces against Mercy in their lone match of the week.

Celina Malosa, Roberts Wesleyan (So, MH - Raleigh, N.C.)
Malosa hit .516 with 17 kills (2.43/set) in a 1-1 week for the Redhawks. She also added three digs and four total blocks. 

Larissa Schneid, Mercy (Sr, OH - Sao Paulo, Brazil)
Schneid had a team-high 25 kills and 23 digs in a 1-1 week for Mercy. The senior opened the week with seven kills and 11 digs at Molloy on Wednesday. The outside hitter ended the week with a match-high 18 kills and 12 digs in the win over Queens on Saturday.

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: The Daemen University women's volleyball team returns home this week with two matches at Lumsden Gym. Daemen hosts non-conference foe Le Moyne on Wednesday at 6 PM, and resumes ECC play on Saturday when they host Mercy at 1 PM in their annual Team IMPACT game.

D'Youville: No team notes submitted.

Mercy: The Mercy College volleyball team went 1-1 on the week with a win over Queens and a loss to Molloy. The Mavericks were led by senior Larissa Schneid who had a team-high 25 kills and 23 digs. Mercy resumes action on Wednesday when they play at Bentley at 7 p.m.

Molloy: Molloy improved to 8-7 (2-1 ECC) with a three-set victory over Mercy College. The Lions are on the road against Queens on Tuesday (Oct. 4) and host Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday (Oct. 8).

Queens: Queens fell in their lone match of the week to Mercy 3-1 as Christina Franco tallied her sixth double-double of the year. It will be a busy week for Queens as they host Molloy Tuesday evening before welcoming Le Moyne Friday in non-conference action. The week concludes against Roberts Wesleyan Sunday afternoon in conference play.

Roberts Wesleyan: The Roberts women's volleyball team went 1-1 last week with a loss to Daemen and a win over D'Youville. The Redhawks are 3-12 and 1-2 in the conference. Roberts will play on the road at Molloy and Queens this weekend.
