ECC Outdoor Track & Field Report - Week Three

Men's Track Athlete of the Week
Owen White, Roberts Wesleyan (Jr - Lockport, N.Y.)
White took first place in the 5,000m at the RIT Invitational on Saturday. He crossed the finish line in a time of 14:55.59 to set a new ECC season-best mark. 

Men's Field Athlete of the Week
Emmanuel Mena Jimenez, St. Thomas Aquinas (So - West Haverstraw, N.Y.)
Mena Jimenez took victory in the hammer throw event at the TCNJ Invitational with a toss of 53.18m. He also set a new NCAA DII Championship Provisional Mark and a new school record in the discus with a throw of 52.89m, which earned him a second-place finish.

 

Women's Track Athlete of the Week
Dayna Thompson, Dist. Columbia (Fr - St. Mary, Jamaica)
Thompson won both the 400 (58.24) and 4x400m (4:00.14) relay at the Galludet Bison Classic. Both marks are ECC season-bests. 

Women's Field Athlete of the Week
Jazmine Severo, Staten Island (Fr - Merced, Calif.)
For the third time in as many weeks, Severo took first place in the high jump at one of CSI's meets. Her height of 1.62m put her at the top of an 11-competitor field at Saturday's TCNJ Invitational and tied her own mark for the best in the ECC to date this season.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Men
Hakeem Griffiths, Queens (So - Portmore, Jamaica)
In the men's triple jump at the TCNJ Invite, Griffiths placed eighth as he broke his personal best with a new career-high mark of 12.27m.

Jon Moote, Daemen (Jr - Wilson, N.Y.)
Placed 12th out of 37 runners in 3,000 meters at the Buffalo Spring Opener with a school-record time of 8:43.94. Broke the school record of 9:04.13 he set at the same event last year.

Women
Kayla Cooper, Dist. Columbia (Fr - Brooklyn, N.Y.)
Cooper leaped to 5.33m in the long jump, the best in the ECC this season, to place third overall at the Bison Classic.

Kassandra Nolet, Daemen (Gr - Fort Erie, Ontario)
Placed second out of 19 runners in the 3,000 meters at the Buffalo Spring Opener with a school-record time of 10:18.78. Eclipsed the previous standard of 10:25.62 set by Marcy Colca at the same event last year.

Gabriella Mott, St. Thomas Aquinas (Gr - Ronkonkoma, N.Y.)
Mott took third in the 5000 Meter Run at the TCNJ Invitational, clocking in with a time of 19:15.52.

Madelyn McMath, Queens (Fr - Carmel, N.Y.)
McMath recorded a career-high mark of 31.54m in the Javelin at the TCNJ Invite.

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: Daemen took part in the University at Buffalo Spring Opener this past Saturday. The Daemen women placed second out of seven schools, while the men placed third out of six. Graduate student Kassandra Nolet (Fort Erie, Ont.) placed second in the 3,000 meters with a school-record time of 10:18.78. Junior Jon Moote (Wilson, N.Y.) placed 12th in the 3,000 meters with a school-record time ion 8:43.94. Daemen will take part in the Brockport Outdoor Multi Saturday (4/15) on the campus of SUNY Brockport.

District of Columbia: UDC had a strong showing at the Bison Classic. They will head to Norfolk, Va. next Saturday to compete.

D'Youville: No team notes submitted.

Molloy: No team notes submitted.

Queens: Queens competed in the TCNJ Invitational on Saturday which saw several Knights set new personal bests. The Knights are off until Apr. 27 when they compete in the Penn Relays.

Roberts Wesleyan: No team notes submitted.

Staten Island: Several Dolphins set new personal-bests this weekend at the TCNJ Invitational. Every Track athlete that competed set a new personal-best time in at least one event, and in the field, Jazmine Severo took first place in the High Jump.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Outdoor Track and Field team competed at the 2-day TCNJ Invitational last weekend. STAC returns to action on April 21 at the East Stroudsburg University All-American Meet in Pennsylvania.
