ECC Outdoor Track & Field Report - Week One

Men's Track Athlete of the Week
Myles Jackson, Queens (Sr - San Juan, Trinidad and Tobago)
Jackson earned second place in the men's 400 meters at the Queens College Season Opener with a time of 52.54 before finishing in first place in the 4x400 with a time of 3:49.70.

Men's Field Athlete of the Week
Andrew Drescher, St. Thomas Aquinas (Jr - Duanesberg, N.Y.)
Drescher set a new school record in the Javelin with a throw of 48.54m, which also placed first in the St. Thomas University Spring Break Invitational.

 

Women's Track Athlete of the Week
Jenna Piller, Molloy (Sr - Middle Village, N.Y.)
Piller opened the outdoor season at the Ursinus College Outdoor Invitational with a first-place performance in the 100-meter, running a time of 12.79 seconds. The senior followed up with a second-place showing in the 200-meter with a time of 26.67 seconds.

Women's Field Athlete of the Week
Madelyn McMath, Queens (Fr - Carmel, N.Y.)
Competing in her first-ever meet, McMath placed first in the Javelin at the Queens College Season Opener with a mark of 30.83m.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Men
Daniel Fuzailof, Queens (Sr - Queens, N.Y.)
Fuzailof earned two first place finishes earning first place in the men's 4x100 with a time of 45.86 before earning first place in the 4x400 with a time of 3:49.70. He would earn a fourth place finish in the men's 400 meters with a time of 53.50.

Hakeem Griffiths, Queens (So - Portmore, Jamaica)
Competing in frigid temperatures, Griffiths placed first place in the men's triple jump with a mark of 11.44m and fourth in the long jump with a mark of 5.63m.

Albert Wheeler, Queens (Sr - Mastic, N.Y.)
Competing in his first-ever home meet, Wheeler earned a first place finish in the men's Javelin event with a mark of 36.93m.

Women
Kristi Ackerina, Molloy (Sr - East Rockaway, N.Y.)
Ackerina set a new program record in the 5000-meter, running the race with a time of 18:50.05 to open the 2023 outdoor season. The senior placed sixth in the event.

Fatima Morrobel, Queens (Jr - Long Beach, N.Y.)
Competing at home for the first time in her career, Morrobel earned a first place finish in the women's 800 meters with a time of 2:34.64 in the Queens College Season Opener.

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: Daemen was idle last week and is scheduled to open its 2023 outdoor season Saturday (April 1) at the Dave Labor Invitational hosted by Slippery Rock University.

District of Columbia: No team notes submitted.

D'Youville: No team notes submitted.

Molloy: The track and field team opened the outdoor season with three first-place finishes at the Ursinus Invite including the women's 100-meter, the men's 800-meter and the men's 4x100 meter relay. In addition, Kristi Ackerina set the new program-record in the 5000-meter with a time of 18:50.05. Molloy will be at Ramapo on Saturday (Apr. 1).

Queens: Queens opened their 2023 season hosting their meet in 10 years on the newly renovated track on campus. The Knights return to action on Sunday morning as they compete in the Coach O Invite hosted by USMMA.

Roberts Wesleyan: No team notes submitted.

Staten Island: Outdoor Track & Field opened their schedule at the Stockton Invite on Saturday. The meet was highlighted for the Dolphins by the performance of Jazmine Severo in the High Jump as she took first place with a height of 1.57m.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Outdoor Track and Field team had the week off and will resume action on on March 31 and April 1 at the Ramapo College Invitational in Mahwah, N.J.
