ECC Men's Soccer Report - Week Four

Offensive Player of the Week
Tamas Nagy, Roberts Wesleyan (Senior, Forward - Czar, Hungary)
ECC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year Nagy totaled six points across two non-conference wins last week. In Roberts Wesleyan’s 3-1 win over Seton Hill, Nagy converted a pair of PKs and assisted on the Redhawks’ other goal for the five-point performance. In the 1-1 draw against Slippery Rock, Nagy recorded the equalizing assist with just 43 seconds remaining in regulation. The honor marks Nagy's second of the season after being tabbed the ECC Offensive Player of the Week last week. 

Defensive Player of the Week
Eirik Elvestad, Mercy (Junior, Goalkeeper - Oslo, Norway)
Preseason Defensive Co-Player of the Year Elvestad made a match-high six saves vs. one goal allowed in Mercy's 3-1 win at regionally-ranked Queens on Saturday. The junior recorded his 100th career save in the victory. The honor marks Elvestad's second of the season after being tabbed the ECC Defensive Player of the Week on 9/11. 

Rookie of the Week
Tommy Gunn, Queens (Freshman, Forward - Buenos Aires, Argentina)
Making the most of his playing time off the bench, Gunn recorded his first career brace in Queens’ 5-3 victory over Holy Family. The freshman recorded his first career goal late in the first half (38’) to give the Knight’s a 4-1 lead before opening the second half with his second goal of the match (48’). 


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Axel Gamez, District of Columbia (Sophomore, Midfielder - Rockville, Md.)
Gamez scored the equalizer in UDC’s 1-1 draw with Molloy to keep the Firebirds undefeated in conference play.

Brendan Maguire, Staten Island (Junior - Forward, Centereach, N.Y.)
Maguire finished last week with three points on a goal and an assist. The junior assisted on the match-winning goal in CSI’s 2-1 victory over regionally-ranked Bridgeport and scored the Dolphins’ lone goal against Daemen.

Adolfo Martinez Paquet, Queens (Senior, Midfielder - Sevilla, Spain)
Martinez Paquet recorded four points on one goal and two assists across two matches last week. In Queens’ 5-3 win over Holy Family, the senior assisted on the first goal of the match before converting a PK for his first goal of the year. Against Mercy on Saturday evening, Paquet recorded his team-leading fourth assist of the season.

Luis Silva, Mercy (Junior, Forward - Esposende, Portugal)
Silva scored the match-winning goal in the 31st minute in Mercy's 3-1 win at regionally-ranked Queens.
