ECC Men's Basketball Report - Week Four

	Player of the Week Darren Fergus, Molloy (So, G - Freeport, N.Y.) Fergus led Molloy, averaging 21.7 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game on the week. The sophomore shot 59.5 percent (25-for-42) and topped 20 points in all three contests on the week, including scoring 24 points at D'Youville. The guard had a double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds against Assumption and dished out a season-high seven assists at Daemen.
	Defensive Player of the Week *Tyler Carey, Queens (Sr, F - Bay Shore, N.Y.)* Carey averaged 11.5 points, 15.0 rebounds, and 4.0 blocks as the senior tallied 23 points, 30 rebounds, and eight blocks in the Knights' 1-1 week. Carey began conference play with his second double-double of the season with 13 points and career-high 17 rebounds and four blocks against DYU before ending the week with his second consecutive double-double with 10 points, 13 rebounds, and four blocks in the victory over Daemen University.
	Rookie of the Week James Patterson, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fr, F - Richmond, Va.) Patterson averaged 19.0 points and 8.5 rebounds in two contests last week. The freshman forward recorded 22 points, nine rebounds, and three assists at UDC, before posting a 16-point, 8-rebound, and 4-steal effort versus Staten Island.

ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Joey Atkins, Daemen (Sr, G/F - Watervliet, N.Y.)
Averaged 17 points, 10 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 4.0 blocks in an 0-2 week. Posted 15 points, nine rebounds, two steals, and four blocks in a three point loss to Molloy and followed up with a career-high 19 points, a career-high 11 rebounds, a career-high four steals, and four blocks in a five point loss to Queens.

Malik Brooks, Roberts Wesleyan (So, G - Lockport, N.Y.)
Brooks averaged 14.0 points per game on 57.1 percent shooting to help the Redhawks to a pair of wins last week. He also pulled down 6.5 rebounds per game and dished off 2.0 assists per game.

Sunnie Diamond, Queens (So, G - Hiram, Ga.)
Diamond averaged 16.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game as the sophomore recorded 32 points, 13 rebounds, four steals, and two blocks in the Knights' 1-1 week. The Hiram native notched a career-high 21 points to go with six rebounds, four steals, and two blocks in the Knights' first victory over Daemen in Amherst.

James Taylor Jr., Mercy (Sr, G - South Chesterfield, Va.)
Taylor Jr. averaged 16.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game in a 1-1 week for Mercy. The senior opened the week with a game-high 20 points to go along with seven rebounds, five assists and two steals in the win over Staten Island on Wednesday. The guard ended the week with 13 points and seven rebounds against UDC on Saturday.

ECC Team Notes

	Daemen: Daemen (3-4, 0-2 ECC) opened ECC play with losses to Molloy (72-69) and Queens (70-65) this past weekend. Three of Daemen's four losses have been by five points or less. Redshirt senior Joey Atkins (Watervliet, N.Y.) averaged 17 points, 10 rebounds, three steals and four blocks over the two games and recorded his first career double-double (19 pts, 11 rebs) in the loss to Queens. Senior Nick MacDonald (Amherst, N.Y.) has scored in double figures in all seven games and is averaging a team-high 15.1 points. Daemen is idle until this weekend when it travels to St. Thomas Aquinas (Dec. 9) and Mercy (Dec. 11) for league games.
	District of Columbia: UDC went 1-1 on the week, losing a close match up against defending ECC champions STAC at home during the week, before heading to N.Y. to pick up their first conference win of the season against Mercy on the weekend. Up next the Firebirds will head back to N.Y to match up against Staten Island to close out conference play for the semester.

	Mercy: The Mercy College men's basketball team went 1-1 on the week with a win over Staten Island and a loss to UDC. Mercy was led by senior James Taylor Jr. who averaged 16.5 points per game. The Mavericks resume action on Tuesday when they host Chestnut Hill at 7 p.m.
	Molloy: The Lions went 2-0 in league play on the week, picking up wins at Daemen and D'Youville after falling to Assumption on Monday evening. Molloy sits at 2-6 on the season and 2-0 in ECC play. This week, Molloy will head to East Stroudsburg on Wednesday (Dec. 7) before returning to league competition on Sunday against Roberts Wesleyan (Dec. 11).
	Queens: The Knights went 1-1 on the week as they earned a 70-65 victory over Daemen Sunday afternoon in ECC play. Sunday's victory over the Wildcats was the Knights first victory over Daemen in 10 contests. Queens open a five-home game stand beginning with Redhawks on Friday (Dec. 9) evening as ECC play continues.

	Staten Island: Men's Basketball opened an 0-2 week with a two-point loss to Mercy College on Wednesday in a hard-fought game. On Saturday, the Dolphins took on St. Thomas Aquinas College, and a late Spartans run propelled STAC to a 14-point win over CSI.
	St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Basketball team (7-1) went 2-0 last week, beating UDC 83-78 and Staten Island 66-52. STAC will next be in action on December 9 (7:30 p.m.) vs. Daemen and December 11 (3:00 p.m.) vs. D'Youville.
