ECC Men's Basketball Report - Week Two

Player & Rookie of the Week
James Patterson, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fr, F - Richmond, Va.)
Patterson averaged 26.5 points and 10.0 rebounds in two contests last week. The freshman forward recorded 26 points, and 12 rebounds at Le Moyne, before posting a 27-point, 8-rebound effort versus Lincoln (PA) at the Harlem Renaissance Classic.

Defensive Player of the Week
Micah Campbell, Dist. Columbia (Jr, F - Waldorf, Md.)
Campbell averaged 9.0 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game over three games. In the game against Alliance, he registered a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds, while swatting away an ECC season-high six blocks.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Joey Atkins, Daemen (Sr, G - Watervliet, N.Y.)
Played a team-high 32 minutes and scored a team-high 17 points in a 62-61 loss to regionally-ranked Mercyhurst in Daemen's lone game of the week. Also totaled six rebounds and two blocks.

William Ellis, Queens (Sr, G - Valley Stream, N.Y.)
Ellis averaged 16 points on the week including a season-high 22 points and eight rebounds to help the Knights defeat Holy Family. The senior went 7-for-18 from the field as Queens went on a late charge with a 13-0 run in the final four minutes of play to hand the Tigers their first loss of the season.

Darren Fergus, Molloy (So, G - Freeport, N.Y.)
Fergus led Molloy on the week, averaging 15.3 points per game. The sophomore shot 43.6 percent from the field while also averaging 7.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.0 steals per game.

Eric Morgan Jr, Dist. Columbia (Fr, G - Washington, D.C.)
Morgan, Jr. averaged 11.3 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game in a 1-2 week. He scored double-figures in the Firebirds' win over Goldey-Beacom and in the game against Bloomfield. He posted a team-high 18 points in the win over GBC while grabbing two rebounds, a steal, and a block.

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: Daemen (2-1, 0-0 ECC) suffered a 62-61 loss to regionally-ranked Mercyhurst in its lone game of the week. Daemen was scheduled to host Clarion this past Saturday, but the game was postponed to Dec. 15 due to the winter storm that hit the Buffalo area. The Wildcats were ranked fourth in the first D2SIDA East Region poll of the season. Daemen returns to action Tuesday when it travels to Slippery Rock for the non-conference game.

District of Columbia: UDC went 1-2 on the week picking up their first win of the season against Goldey-Beacom at home. They are back in action on Wednesday as they head to MD to face off against Bowie State University.

D'Youville: No team notes submitted.

Mercy: The Mercy College men's basketball team went 0-1 on the week with a 74-65 loss at Pace on Wednesday. The Mavericks were led by graduate student Sean Smith Jr. who scored a team-high 15 points. Mercy resumes action on Tuesday when they host Bridgeport at 7 p.m.

Molloy: Molloy went 0-2 on the week, falling to both Caldwell and Dominican in non-league play. This week, the Lions will face Southern Connecticut State on Tuesday (Nov. 22).

Queens: The Knights went 1-1 on the week including a victory over undefeated Holy Family Saturday afternoon. Queens hosts Alliance Wednesday before traveling to face AIC Sunday afternoon.

Roberts Wesleyan: The Roberts Wesleyan men's basketball team suffered two losses last week. The Redhawks dropped a road game to Mansfield, 75-71 and a road game to Seton Hill, 87-72. Roberts (0-4) will host Edinboro on Monday for its home opener.

Staten Island: On Wednesday night against Holy Family, CSI fell behind early but remained within striking distance through the end of the first half. However, they could not overcome poor shooting in the second half as they fell by a final score of 73-52.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Basketball team (3-1) went 1-1 last week, beating Le Moyne 88-87, before falling to Lincoln (PA) 70-65 at the Harlem Renaissance Classic. STAC will next be in action on November 22 (7:30 p.m.) at Post and November 27 (1:00 p.m.) at Goldey-Beacom.
