ECC Weekly Honor Roll
Jamal Barnes, St. Thomas Aquinas (Jr, G - Temple Hills, Md.)
Barnes averaged 17 points in the Spartans season opening victories over Alliance and Felician University. Barnes posted 19 points against Alliance and went 6 of 13 from three and followed it up with a 15-point performance against Felician, shooting 5 of 12 from the field.
Bryson Birdsong, D'Youville (Jr, G - Winter Haven, Fla.)
Bryson Birdsong was lights-out from the free throw line in the Saints season opener, going 10-for-10 from the charity stripe. The Winter Haven, Fla. native paced the Saints offensively with 21 points, shooting 50 percent from both the floor and beyond the arc. Birdsong finished the day with four rebounds.
Malik Brooks, Roberts Wesleyan (So, G - Lockport, N.Y.)
Brooks averaged 19.5 points per game over his first two games in a Roberts Wesleyan uniform. He shot 60.0 percent from the floor (15-25) and 66.7 percent (4-6) from three point range.
Sunnie Diamond, Queens (So, G - Hiram, Ga.)
Diamond is off to an impressive start in Flushing, averaging 16.5 PPG on 50.0 percent shooting after tallying 33 points, four blocks, and four steals in two games. The sophomore tallied 16 points in the victory over Adelphi before notching a career-high 17 points against Pace. He would shoot 62.5 percent from the field with a career-high three blocks to help knock off Adelphi in the season opener.

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: The Wildcats have started 2-0 for the first time since 2018-19 after posting wins over Georgian Court (65-60) and regionally-ranked Saint Anselm (81-69) during the Daemen East Region Challenge. Redshirt senior Joey Atkins was named MVP of the tournament, while senior guard Nick MacDonald and freshman guard Justin Glover were named to the all-tournament team. The Wildcats are now 13-1 all-time during the tournament. Daemen will face a pair of PSAC opponents at home this week, as they host regionally-ranked Mercyhurst on Wednesday and Clarion on Saturday. |

District of Columbia: The Firebirds competed in an exhibition match against Division I member Howard University. They will officially begin the season this week with three home games against Alliance University, Goldey-Beacom College, and Bloomfield. |

D'Youville: Saints won their season opener at 83-80 against Mansfield. Bryson Birdsong paced the Saints offensively with 21 points. The team is back in action on Tuesday, Nov. 15 as they travel to Wheeling University for a 7 p.m. matchup. They are then on the road at East Stroudsburg for a 3 p.m. tip on Sunday, Nov. 20. |

Mercy: The Mercy College men's basketball team went 0-2 on the week with losses to Felician and Alliance. Mercy was led by junior Jayden Dewaal who led the team in points and rebounds. Mercy resumes action on Wednesday at Pace at 7 p.m. |

Queens: Queens went 1-1 in the ECC/NE10 Challenge as they knocked off Adelphi Friday before falling short against Pace. The Knights open the week against Felician Wednesday before hosting Holy Family Saturday afternoon to conclude the week. |

Roberts Wesleyan: The Roberts Wesleyan men's basketball team opened the season with two losses at the East Region Challenge presented by WNY Knee and Orthopedic Surgery PC. The Redhawks fell to Saint Anselm (97-80) and Georgian Court (85-81). Roberts travels to Mansfield on Tuesday for a 7:30 p.m. tip. |

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Basketball team (2-0) opened its 2022-23 season, sweeping the STAC Tip-Off Classic with victories over Alliance University, 91-52 and Felician University, 74-69. STAC will next be in action on November 16 (7:00 p.m.) at Le Moyne and November 19 (7:00 p.m.) vs. Lincoln at the Harlem Renaissance Classic. |
