ECC Men's Lacrosse Report - Week Two

Offensive Player of the Week
Brady Kearnan, Mercy (Sr, A - Courtice, Ontario)
Kearnan had a team-high 12 points on a team-high six goals and four assists as Mercy went 1-1 on the week. The senior also added six ground balls and four caused turnovers. Kearnan opened the week with a game-high nine points on six goals and three assists with four ground balls and three caused turnovers in the win at Saint Rose. The senior ended the week with two goals, one assist, two ground balls and one caused turnover at No. 4 Le Moyne on Sunday.

Defensive Player of the Week
Justin Gerdvil, Mercy (Sr, D - East Northport, N.Y.)
Gerdvil had a team-high 12 ground balls and seven caused turnovers in a 1-1 week for Mercy. The senior opened the week with eight ground balls and four caused turnovers, recording his 100th career ground ball, in the win at Saint Rose on Wednesday. Gerdvil ended the week with four ground balls and a game-high three caused turnovers at No. 4 Le Moyne on Sunday.

Rookie of the Week
Ryan Christensen, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fr, A - Old Bridge, N.J.)
Christensen tallied three goals on seven shots in the Spartans' season-opening game against American International. He also picked up a ground ball in his maroon and gold debut.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Dan Doviak, Roberts Wesleyan (Sr, A - Oswego, N.Y.)
Doviak had four goals in the Redhawks' 18-12 loss to Lewis. 

Jack Gibbons, Mercy (Gr, M - North Bellmore, N.Y.)
Gibbons recorded seven points on six goals and one assist in a 1-1 week for Mercy. The graduate student opened the week with four goals in the Mavericks win at Saint Rose on Wednesday. Gibbons ended the week with two goals and an assist at No. 4 Le Moyne on Sunday.

Carnell Lofton Jr., Dist. Columbia (Sr, M - Middletown, Del.)
In the Firebirds' season-opener against Caldwell University, Lofton picked up a game-high 14 ground balls, went 21-for-29 in faceoffs, and added a goal and an assist.

Najee Wilson, Dist. Columbia (Sr, GK - Bloomfield, Conn.)

Wilson had a career-high 30 saves in the Firebirds' game against Caldwell University. His save percentage was 62.5 percent which puts him at the top of the conference.

ECC Team Notes

Dist. Columbia: UDC opened their season in NJ facing off against CACC member Caldwell University. With more than half the team being new to lacrosse the Firebirds fought hard and put up a valiant effort, eventually falling to the Cougars 8-18. They are off this weekend but will head back to N.J. the following week to take on Georgian Court.

D'Youville: No team notes submitted.

Frostburg St.: No team notes submitted.

Mercy: The No. 2/3 Mercy College men's lacrosse team went 1-1 on the week with a win over Saint Rose and a loss to No. 4 Le Moyne. The Mavericks were led by senior Brady Kearnan who had a team-high 12 points. Mercy resumes action on Wednesday when they play at Georgian Court at 3 p.m.

Molloy: Molloy will kick off the 2023 season on Wednesday (Feb. 22) against Franklin Pierce at 4:30 p.m.

Roberts Wesleyan: Roberts fell to Lewis University on Sunday, 18-12. The Redhawks are 1-1 this season and will play at Davenport University on Tuesday and Davis and Elkins on Saturday.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Lacrosse team (0-1) suffered a 17-8 defeat at the hands of American International last week. STAC returns to action on March 1 (7:00 p.m.) at Felician.
