ECC Indoor Track & Field Report - Week Three

Men's Track Athlete of the Week
Gianni Macchio, Molloy (Jr - North Bellmore, N.Y.)
Macchio broke the program record in the 60 meter dash, running a time of 7.06 seconds at the Wagner Invitational. It was the second-fastest time in the event among all ECC student-athletes this season. 

Men's Field Athlete of the Week
Emmanuel Mena Jimenez, St. Thomas Aquinas (So - West Haverstraw, N.Y.)
Mena Jimenez set a new school record in the weight throw, with a first place toss of 18.40m at the Wagner College Invitational. In addition, the mark was good for first in the ECC this season and hit an NCAA Championship Provisional Mark. He also took a seventh-place finish in the Shot Put, with a throw of 14.31m/46'11.5".

Women's Track Athlete of the Week
Skylar Moreno, St. Thomas Aquinas (Gr - Congers, N.Y.)
Moreno took a seventh place finish in the 800 Meter Run, clocking in at 2:26.89. She also helped lead her 4x400 Meter Relay team to a ninth place finish with a time of 4:45.90.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Daniel Fuzailof, Queens (Jr - Queens, N.Y.)
Competing in three events against DI and several DII opponents, Fuzailof led the Knights posting the top DII time in the 400 Meter Dash with a 53.63 finish and top-four DII time in the 200 Meter Dash with a finish of 24.13.

ECC Team Notes

Daemen: Daemen women's basketball earned a pair of wins over St. Michael's and Staten Island last week to move to 9-2 on the year. The Wildcats host longtime rival Roberts Wesleyan on Wednesday evening at Lumsden Gymnasium.

District of Columbia: Women's Indoor Track was idle this week but will be back in action next weekend in N.Y. to compete in the HBCU Showcase.

Holy Family: No team notes submitted.

Molloy: The Lions competed at the Wagner Invitational at Ocean Breeze. The men's team saw personal-best performances from freshman James Nichol in the mile (4:50.24), sophomore Eric Anderson in the 500 (1:08.75), freshman Christian Canela in the 500 (1:10.45), and sophomore Aiden Watson in the 3000 (8:58.22). The women's side saw personal-bests from sophomore Megan Sohl in the mile (5:58.70) and sophomore Mary Grace Syrett in the shot put (10.84 meters). The squads will return to action on Friday (Jan. 13) at the Spartan Invite.

Queens: The Knights opened the new year competing in the Wagner Invitational Friday afternoon. Queens returns to action on Friday as they compete in the STAC Invitational to be held at the Ocean Breeze Complex.

St. Thomas Aquinas: The St. Thomas Aquinas College Indoor Track & Field team took part in the Wagner College Invitational (Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex). STAC will return to action on January 13 (12:00 p.m.) as they host their annual Spartan Invitational (Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex).
