ECC Women's Tennis Report - Week Two

Player of the Week
Ebba Rosberg, St. Thomas Aquinas (Senior - Stockholm, Sweden)
Rosberg won the singles portion of the ITA East Regional Tournament. As the top-seeded singles player, Rosberg had a first round bye and cruised through her opponents to the semifinal, where she had her first test, defeating sixth-ranked Jess Purdy of Wilmington (7-5, 7-5). In the women's final, Rosberg battled third-ranked Aliina Kupfer of Southern New Hampshire to a third set tie-breaker (7-6, 6-3, 10-8) to win the ITA East Regional title.

Rookie of the Week
Polina Zelentsova, District of Columbia (Freshman - Chaiky, Ukraine)
Zelentsova made the Quarterfinal Round in the ITA East Regional Tournament and just missed out on the Quarterfinal Round for doubles. The UDC freshman went 3-1 on the weekend in singles and 2-1 in doubles.

ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Laura Marie, District of Columbia (Junior - Saint-Valery-sur-Somme, France)
Finishing with a 3-1 record, Marie advanced to the Quarterfinal Round in the ITA East Regional Tournament before falling to ECC rival Elita Silins.

Eva Rivoal, Queens (Graduate Student - Saint-Denis-de-Pile, France)
Competing in the ITA East Regional Tournament, Rivoal would advance to the Quarterfinal Round before an injury forced her to retire. The Queens graduate student would defeat two ranked opponents in #26 UNH Karim Carreras and Adelphi #7 Katarina Liedbeck.
