Brookville, N.Y. – Queens College senior
guard Bria Jackson and Dowling College senior forward Danielle
Wilson have been named to the Daktronics All-East Region First
Team. Tanisha Carter from the University of Bridgeport was also
honored with a selection to the Second Team.
Jackson, an ECC All-Conference First Team honoree, led the ECC and
ranked sixth in Division II in scoring with a 20.0 points per game
average in 2012-13. Jackson also averaged 7.3 rebounds per game and
4.5 assists per game in helping the Queens’ outstanding
turnaround from a one win squad in 2012 to 11 wins and a spot in
the ECC Tournament in 2013.
Wilson earns First Team honors after being named the ECC Player of
the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. She was an all around
force for the Golden Lions, finishing tops in the conference in
field goals made(194), field goal percentage (.567), offensive
rebounds (126), total rebounds (299), rebounds per game (10.7), and
blocks (81), while also finishing third in the ECC in scoring (17.0
ppg).
Carter, also an ECC All-Conference First Teamer, grabs a spot on
the Daktronics Second Team. The senior forward finished second in
the ECC with 17.4 points per game, while also averaging 6.8 boards
per contest.
Sports information directors from NCAA Division II East Region
schools and conferences selected the two Daktronics All-Region
teams. The process concludes with All-American selections announced
later in the month.
The team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world
leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for
virtually every sport at every level of competition. The team is
voted on by the NCAA Division II members of the College Sports
Information Directors of America (D2SIDA).
