Central Islip, N.Y. – Nicolette Marciniak
of C.W. Post and Briana Sloper of St. Thomas Aquinas, have been
named to the Capital One Women’s Basketball Academic
All-District Team.
Marciniak, a junior for the Pioneers, is currently averaging 10.3
points per game and 9.0 rebounds per game. Her rebounding total
ranks second in the ECC. A History Education major, Marciniak
currently holds a 3.74 grade point average.
Sloper, last season’s ECC Co-Player of the Year, is having another productive season as a senior, ranking fourth in the conference by scoring 18.0 points per game. She currently holds a 3.62 grade point average as a psychology major.
To be nominated for a Capital One Academic All-District Team, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s games.
Firstâteam Academic AllâDistrict honorees advance to the Capital One Academic AllâAmerica Team ballot, where firstâ, secondâ and thirdâteam AllâAmerica honorees will be selected later this month.
