ECC Men's Soccer Report - Week Two

Offensive Player of the Week
Kevon Evans, St. Thomas Aquinas (Junior - Forward, Ossinging, N.Y.)
Ranked second in the nation in points (10) and third in goals (4), Evans continued his hot start to the season by recording five points on one goal and three assists on the week. In the Spartans’ 6-2 win over Bloomfield, Evans assisted on goals in the sixth minute and 47th minute before scoring unassisted in the 53rd minute. The STAC senior would go on to pick up an assist in the Spartans’ suspended match with Felician. 

Defensive Player of the Week
Eirik Elvestad, Mercy (Junior - Goalkeeper, Oslo, Norway)
Elvestad went 1-0-1 in goal with six saves, an .857 save percentage, and 0.50 goals against average last week. The junior made two saves with just one goal allowed in a 1-1 draw with Adelphi before making four saves to earn the shutout win over Southern Connecticut State.

Rookie of the Week
Marius Pignat-Larsen, Mercy (Freshman - Back, Copenhagen, Denmark)
Pignut-Larsen helped lead a Mavericks backline that did not allow a goal in the 135 minutes he played last week. Against Adelphi, the freshman played the second half and helped lead Mercy to a 1-1 draw. Against Southern Connecticut State, Pignat-Larsen played all 90 minutes and led a Maverick backline that earned a 1-0 shutout win over the Owls. 

 


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Jake Balme, Queens (Sophomore - Goalkeeper, Sheffield, England)
Balme made seven saves across two matches last week, recording three saves in a 1-1 draw against Felician before making four saves in a 1-0 loss against #14 Southern New Hampshire. 

Harry Cooke, Queens (Sophomore - Forward, Market Drayton, England)
Cooke scored his first career goal in a 1-1 draw with Felician.

Carlos Fernandes, Mercy (Senior - Forward, Lisbon, Portugal)
Fernandes scored the match-winning goal in the 53rd minute in Mercy's 1-0 win over Southern Connecticut State.

Harry Firth, Daemen (Senior - Goalkeeper, Reading, England)
Firth turned away five shots in the full 90:00 in Daemen’s 1-1 draw with Saint Michael’s.
